Huddersfield (H) Post Match Thread

Mendy is in for an awesome season by the looks! He was standout today by far. Fast, strong and can pick out a perfect cross.

What formation did we play? I missed the game, but saw the lineup and was a little confused.

Not David Wagner by any chance?

We played a back three with Mendy high up on the left and Bernardo and Silva pulling them to shreds on the right. It’ll be effective once we’ve perfected it...

Comprehensive. We look better than last year. Mendy is going to improve our side tremendously.

Thanks, man!

Haha, definitely not Wagner!

Fabulous today, really enjoyed the whole game & didn’t want it to end. Looked as good, if not actually better than we were for much of last season - even three goals up you couldn’t take your eyes of it - magic being created all over the pitch. The next game needs to come around fast...

Mendy is a beast and never stopped running! Sergio looks a different player and Dave looks like all the weight lifted off his shoulders. What a moment for him to score in front of his son. I am sure that will be talked about in a few years time. Laporte and Stomes wow these are going to be together for years. I was in awe at some of the football today. I think one of the op put it correctly on the Pre-match having seen the line up. You would be worried but then you know Pep is a genius. With both Pep and Artefa coming up with new ideas this season think we are going to be in for another good season.

The beauty is that we dont have to be rigid in the way we play. and we can change it depending who and where we play. Have to say i thought Aguero was not what Pep required at first. In the first season pep wanted more from him and was vocal about it. It just shows we have a manager who can take even those considered amongst the very best and take them to another level. Aguero today played with the commitment quality and class that i thought was possibly behind him certainly Jesus will still have to wait to become our no1 striker, although to be fair Jesus played well today despite missing 2-3 very good chances

Think Aguero's op has helped, too.

Fantastic to watch. The speed of thought and control to a man is spot on.

Even right at the end there were 4 or 5 breaking out at speed, hungry to score more.
