Huddersfield (h) pre-match thread

I can't understand people who want the kids to have a chance? If we beat Huddersfield then we only have to beat 'boro away and then we all get a trip to Wembley!! Best XI please, Pep.

There's potentially 23 games to be fitted in during the next 9 weeks, plus a couple of internationals for many of our players. We're heading for a major fixture pile up. In an ideal world we'd play our strongest team every match, but something's got to give. We are going to have to play the fringe players at some stage and it seems to me that the Huddersfield game is one occasion when we ought to be able call on at least some of them.

I expect that Pep will select a slightly stronger team than the one that played at Huddersfield. Perhaps one of Yaya, Silva or De Bruyne and either Starling or Sane will start. Partly because they've had a bit of a rest. Partly because if we get through to the next round we'll play Boro on the weekend before the Monaco game and he can rest nearly all of the "first 11" for that game.

I think they'll come out all guns blazing. Hopefully we can weather the storm and take advantage when they blow themselves out.

I'd also like to think we'll get a fair crack of the whip from the officials. I'll not hold my breath on that front.

Huddersfield will create chances but they aren't as good individually as Monaco or Spurs and if we match their work rate we will win.

What would be the point of us playing the only two fit strikers we have in the same match?

They sold out at lunch time. Big day out for the udders.
They have 1,200 left according to their twitter feed. That's 6,800. They will have at least 7,000 at City which will be one of the biggest visiting supports at the Etihad. Quite a few clubs have brought 6,000 but can't remember many more than that.

Looking forward to it because of the atmosphere which they will create.

Fair play to them for selling so many 1st ever visit to the etihad helps, being honest we should beat them easily, huge gap between the top of champs to the top of prem, but they're no mugs & we need a strong first 11 to put them in their place

Anything can happen in a one-off Cup game, and we've been beaten before at home by weaker sides in the relatively recent past.

Attitude is key. Great chance for both clubs to get to Wembley as Boro mired in a relegation battle. Looking forward to this. Should be a great atmosphere from a big crowd.

4-1. 46,000

Biggest day out for years for udders.

Lots of first timers, kids + their 'Town Youth Team",quite a useful little outfit who all stick together.

Could be interesting if any City lads are bothered.
