Hughes - for all those slagging him off

Personally, as someone who thinks that there is nothing to recommend Hughes as being a top class manager capable of getting the best out of the calibre of players we have and are in for, I certainly was not slagging Hughes off after four games.

I was quite happy with this season then, even if the performances themselves were nothing outstanding and a bit patchy.

It's weird, I judge on what I see, rather than hold some dogmatic opinion that will never change. After those first four games I was happy, therefore I praised the manager when asked about him.

Since then, all things from last season that convinced me that he isn't capable of utilising this opportunit properly or as well as other managers, have resurfaced. Therefore, I am no longer happy with the manager and it confirms my thoughts about him from last season.

Are you suggesting that people should pick one of two options. Either always slag the manager, even if his team is doing well, or always claim the manager is great, even if performances and results show otherwise?

masterwig, surely you arnt happy with the kind of football thats being served up.

where when petrov comes on hes played down the wrong wing, as was swp at that time in the match.

whether you want les to go or not you have to question a manager who plays his wide men like this at a crucial stage in the match, and at a crucial time, when we could have and should have made ground up on those, above and around us in the league against such a team with such a poor away record.

I put myself in the Hughes outers camp mate, and yes, they have all come back. I will tell you this though pal, we all wanted him to prove us wrong. Unfortunately, the guy makes a massive rod for his own back back when he plays people out of position, and wank route 1 football.

He won't be criticised if he get the team, at the very least, playing good football. it's easy to label everybody on here, that pokes Hughes, as assholes, but don't forget that we all want what's best for City at the end of the day!

Is it that hard to understand that when were playing poorly, people will say so and when were not playing poorly there won't be as much criticism.

I really don't know what you expect.

I'm a "Hughes outer" but I didn't want him out from day one.
It was just before last Christmas when I started to believe he wasn't up to the job. As I said in an earlier post, the thrashing of Hull saved his job IMO.
Hughes has all his own men in now and has no excuses whatsoever. How many games have we played well in this season? Not ten minutes here and there, complete games. Only Arsenal for me.
We've huffed and fuckin puffed in all our other games. I understand that you have to win ugly sometimes, (Blackburn and Portsmouth) but playing a poor Wolves, poor Burnley and knackered Fulham all at home and only picking up five points is bleeding awful.

If you are to support the club, then part of supporting the club is supporting the manager. I agree that he should be questioned and criticised in a constructive manner with decisions he makes, but to call for his head when it's obvious he is not going to be sacked anytime soon is more or less borderline stupidity in my opinion.

If Mark Hughes is making the team perform well then he never gets the credit he deserves but if the team is doing badly then it is apparently all his fault even when players like Lescott and Bridge are making induvidual errors for fun. It's a bit out of order really. And the same people who thought Adebayor was the bees knees when he was scoring match in, match out are seemingly slagging him off cos he's not scored since his return. Fickle much?

We have missed two golden opportunities to be 5-0 at home and if we keep shooting ourselves in the foot especially at home action will be taken on and off the pitch and why because the club is able to do so but keep in mind change doesn't necessarily mean change for the better often it is a cop out.

The players we have are good enough and seasoned enough to work themselves into a mindset of winning games of football and that is what they must do.

Remember that he is battling to revive a club that has been so steeped in mediocrity for so many years it is frightening. This would be a huge challenge for anyone irrespective of who they are.

We have accepted second best for 30 years and it will take time to change that.

The club, and a lot of the fans, still has a bit of a losing mentality. It's why we haven't been in a cup semi final or final since 1981. It's going to take a while to cleanse ourselves of this history so we are going to have to be patient!

And that , my friend , is exactly why Mourinho WOULDN'T come here ...... there's simply too much to do , he'd simply get 'found out' as a manager , which is the last thing he needs at this stage of his managerial career ........ he wouldn't fancy the daunting challenge of changing this clubs mentality ....... he prefers the 'cushier' jobs , jobs which are almost there (or already ARE there)!

Hughes should have two options:

one, bring in a top defence coach or

two, Leave.

Last season people made every excuse for his innept qualities and I was willing to listen, wait and hold my stance, but yesterday annoyed me and unless he's willing to get a top defence coach in then I have no more time for his lack of quality and idea's.

This is absolute rubbish. The club is the club. If we have a crap manager we should support him because it's part of supporting the club? Are you a communist? No free will? Ridiculous premise and one which would lead to us still having some of the dross from the past in charge. Name the worst manager we have had? Now are you saying we should support him as it's part of supporting the club. Are you mad?
