Here we go , don`t blame Mancini , it`s ALL Hughes fault ? No body to drive us on from midfield , so why bring in the ageing Vieira and go after Gago and Mariga ? Two more DEFENSIVE minded midfielders (look at their goal "records") ! If Roberto has his way it will be a back 9 with 1 up front !

Oh, hughes agent has joined the debate, hows the job hunting going!

Mariga goal scoring record is bad but he is well and truly an attacking midfielder[/quote

Obviously not a very good one then !
And no not Hughes agent , but feel he should of had the rest of the season .
Opinions we`ve ALL got them !

Hughes assembled a fantastic squad from a mediocre one (debatable i know) in one transfer year (the Jan09 and Summer09). A squad of players capable of great things. Many on here have said that this squad should be finishing 4th, some have even dared to say we should be taking a shot at the title. This squad has beaten Arsenal twice, Chelsea once and united once. It's drawn away to Liverpool, and refused to lie down at Old Trafford when scoring 3 goals.

That tells me that this is not a bad squad. Although admittedly neither manager has consistently got the best out of it.

Sure we are still lacking in certain areas, but very few people if any have ever assembled a squad so quickly so it's not surprising that it needs tinkering with. Especially when you think that the squad is assembled with the idea of a team on paper, and its only after a number of games that the team on the pitch reveals itself.

Obviously this is only my opinion and others will have opposite views, but most of the above is fact, surely.

ps. It's okay to dream, but maybe it's too soon to be demanding that we achieve our dreams.

I agree with most of that. But Hughes bought lots of players in summer 08, didn't he?

That mediocre squad included Elano, one of the best creative mids in the world, the next England keeper, fullback, and striker, in Hart, Richards, and Sturridge, the Irish and club captain, winner of four fans player of the year and no doubt already on the villa short list.........throw in the Brazilian center forward Jo , and the Bodge ( Who was never even given a chance)..........yeah that was a sh*te starting point for anyone, duly fu*ked up by a clueless c*nt..........and add Robbi to the list of players so undermind he had desided to go before Mancini took over

The "Fantastic squad" included TBH, twenty min Berti, and Crocky santa f*cking cruise, a keeper who is a great shot stopper but never as good as who he replaced, same at center half, and a mixed bag of midfeild average with Barry being so far disapointing but at least hope for the future.

Bellamy is the sole supprise for me, better than I though he was, but still with dodgy knee`s and temperment.

Tevez and Addie were good buys, but I doubt there was any thought went in to any of the players bought as to if they could play together, certainly no balance, with key area`s ignored.

His legacy is the damage the usless c*nt inflicted on the club at every level.

a few, but we didn't have the serious money until the last day of the window, so the expectations were not top 4 then, thats why i didn't include it.

Elano=dressing room troublemaker. Robinho, Jo= bought by the new owners, not Hughes. Sturridge= offered a new deal & spurned it in favour of a free to Chelsea. Hart= too inexperienced to take the first team place & sent on loan for experience. Richards= too inconsistent for a regular place. Dunne= told he couldn't be guaranteed a first team place & bit the bullet & left. Hughes proved he had a good eye for a player at Blackburn & DEVELOPED a good enough defence there to keep a team with very little cash like Blackburn in the top 7 for a few seasons. MH has the best win % of any Man City boss of 47% according to statistics...

I have to agree with you. Oh and what did he do with that squad last winter? Has everyone here forgotten?

Hughes isn't here anymore.

Elano was a fantastic player on his day.... not many others. (without doubt the best penalty taker I've ever seen though).

If we beat Stoke I wonder what will happen! Besides us going to the next round.

Bring on Liverpool!
