For those who still think (for some strange reason) that Hughes did a good job at Blackburn, here's the facts about his reign there compared to the mangerial genius that is Graeme Souness...

Hughes
Games 188
Points 193
Ave. 1.55 per game

Souness
Games 212
Points 319
Ave. 1.50 per game

Oh, and Souness actually won something there too.

Hughes is, always has been, and always will be, fucking useless.

Those stats are all over the place. Not all of them are league games, Souness had about 60 or so games in the 2nd tier, plus I doubt Hughes averaged just over a point a game in his whole managerial career at Blackburn when in his 3 full seasons there he finished 6th, 10th, and 7th.

Hughes may well be clueless now and I'm delighted to admit that our club ultimately made the right decision in sacking him, but as has already been stated one would have to be extremely bitter to not acknowledge that he did a good job at Blackburn. What he has done since doesn't change that one iota.

-- Mon Nov 19, 2012 7:21 pm --

193/188 doesn't equal 1.55, it equals 1.03?

And 1.03 equates to an average of just over 39 points a season which means his Blackburm team must've displayed near-relegation form for the whole of his tenure there yet remarkably he finished 6th, 10th, and 7th in his 3 full seasons there and 15th in the other season. Funny, but I don't ever recall a team securing a top 6 or 7 spot and only amassing 39 points into the bargain.

Lies, damn lies and football statistics ;-)

Re: not long left for hughes

Here we go - Hughes league record at Blackburn:

Games played - 147*
Points - 213
Average points per game - 1.449
Average points over a 38 game season - 55.061

Just noticed that when they came 6th in 2005-06, they only finished 4 points behind Arsenal in 4th spot.

*Edited down by one game - he was announced as manager on Sept 16th 2004 which meant he wasn't in charge for the 3-0 defeat to Newcastle 5 days earlier.

Re: not long left for hughes

Didn't give training today according to the Fail, bit still has the job at this stage.

Re: not long left for hughes

The problem is Fernandes has made a rod for his own back, by waxing lyrical about how good Hughes is, and how he needs time. As usual though, Hughes is making excuses, and trying to put some kind of bizarre, positive spin on it, with comments like "it can't get any worse", "not many other people were queuing up for the job when I took it", and "I need more time, the club needs stability".

double agent hughes will get his win at ot and take a bow

Blackburn went to OT and won last season. QPR should approach that game with an attacking mentality. They have nothing to lose from doing that, and need the points. Putting everybody behind the ball, and playing for a 0-0, will just be suicide.

James Olley from the London Evening Standard says he's been sacked!

Neville giving him an easy ride on Monday night football. No surprise there then.

Re: not long left for hughes

Hughes has totally exposed himself with QPR.
His stock has fallen big time now.
Mid table championship clubs for him from now on!!
If Berg doesn't make an impact at Blackburn, I can see an "emotional" return to the club he should never have left.
