If its going to divide opinion its not mourinho.

That is not true - he way down the list for me - self-serving egotist - couple of years of media frenzy about him - maybe a cup and then off - and the project would have gone backwards

Ok fair enough, but by divide opinion i take it its going to be almost on the scale of hughes inners and outers, but id say probably way over 85% will say the'd want mourinho, thats what i meant.

Cook and ADUG were ready to bin him after the West Brom game last season, one of the reasons why Cassell went, but thats another story for another day.

this thread is rubbish, go on, spin us a tale or two.

It may well be rubbish but it's not often a story gathers this much momentum on a managers exit and then turns out to be unfounded.

Re: it's done

Anyone else find it strange that there isn't the normal friday evening press conference on the OS this week?

Re: it's done

Any chance of a poll? My choice would be Martin O'Neill followed by David Moyse to get us into the Top Four. Not very ambitious perhaps but either manager would do a good job. We could even swap Hughes for either of them to sweeten the deal.

Re: it's done

Club should release a statement and so should MH. Until this happens the speculation will continue to run rampant. PErsonally I am waiting for the SAturday GMR radio show to start as they will have the best idea media wise of what is actually going on. Cheeseman always calls the big stories first.

Oneil wont leave Villa he is very loyal to his clubs and players. Moyes would probably take our arm off but he plays the worst football in the league and Everton would not let him go midseason if at all, plus it would mean him giving up on managing the scum. The only candidate we could get in immediately would be Mancini as he is out of work and has been since he got the sack from Inter last year BUT if they get rid of Morinho in the summer he could end up going back there ! The press are saying we could bring him in till the end of the season at which point if he ripped up trees he could get the job or we could go for Morinho...

Basically I still think this is press bollocks the game today is going to be facniating though there will be a buzz around the stadium for sure.

I agree Josh...but I have to say if you look at the OP in the context of what you've just said it's fucking comical!

Hardly takes a fucking mathematician to figure out that there's something brewing...

NO F@@K OFF! He is a c#nt -- we are better than players like him now!

Why because Elano could pass a ball and none of our midfield can at the moment?

What exactly has Gareth Barry brought to the table except 1 goal in the derby and shit performance after shit performance since?

Elano has no place in our new improved team (all be it that the manager has f@@ked things up) - I agree Barry has not been great so far.

But that guy was a lazy player that could not tackle.

Happens all the time, Benitez and Phil Brown already this season.

Re: it's done

It's the deafening silence that's fuelling the speculation. No Khaldoon. No Cook. No Hughes. No Bowen. No Niedzvidizckiski. Nobody.

Nobody is saying this is not true. ON THE DAY OF AN IMPORTANT GAME!

From what I've read of the original poster he seems to definitely have good contacts.

Part of me will be surprised to see Hughes on the sideline this afternoon.

I have definitely got the buzz back for this afternoon now!

Glad im not the only one who would be happy with Martin O Neill, he would turn us into a well organised consistant side if not spectacular, i could live quite happily with that.

oh no, that's not what I'm saying at all, just that the OP dropped his little teaser and then walked away. I can quite believe he's right, the media reports in todays papers are all but conclusive, just that he's not coming back to tell us any more.

just that I was up late last night/this morning, i've pretty much been through all this, I wanted to hear something different, and that Cassell story sounded interesting.

With the funds at our disposal and the talent that it will bring (as it has done already), we need a manager who can handle the big egos of those players.
Moyes like Hughes isn't the man for that job

Re: it's done

To be honest I think most have wrote Hughes off as Manchester City manager now and even those that are pro-Hughes seem resigned to his fate. I think Hughes has not done a bad job and has made progress with the club, he's a good manager but we need a great world-class manager to take us onto the next level.

Do you remember who delivered the cross for Nilmar's header at the England VS Brazil match?

Moyes could be a great manager, but for me the main thing he hasn't got is PREMIERSHIP WINS .... Mourinio is the only one I'd want.

Re: it's done

it would have to be a big character, an international name. they've probably identified that he is having problems attracting and managing international stars (who aren't english or welsh), that he never made the job his own and shut everyone up. like I say they want someone who is reknown has worked with the big names and has the character to deal with it all, to make robinho feel small if needs be, etc.

Results are what is gathering momentum. The media just go for the easy headline and they know City have invested huge amounts, and are struggling for results. When you read the articles, there's nothing in it other than the contact with Hiddink's agent which may not be that meaningful.

I think results would justify a change - but only if that saw someone like Mourinho/Hiddink come in. And that's not going to happen.

Hughes is a good young manager who has probably got this job 5 years too soon.

Re: it's done

What the fuck is going on with the PR from the club though is it right Hughes has not given his weekly press conference ?
