The clueless one says he wasn't properly backed by the QPR board. I'm sorry, but what the actual fuck?

Bitter, deluded little man. I cannot stand him.

His little rant about not being backed included us. He said everytime he has been backed by the board, he has been successful and went on to mention Fulham and Blackburn. He really is a bitter, deluded, little cock snot.

His net spend at City? £201m.

Yeah, Lesley, the board didn't back you at all......

Liar or deliberately misrepresenting minor details?

"At two of my last three clubs the ownership changed shortly after I arrived and I don't want to go through that process again, it's not easy.

Tony Fernandes bought the majority of shares and took control of QPR well before appointing Hughes and Warnock was manager for several matches under him.

I am not saying that minor percentages of shares didn't change hands after that but this excuse maker extraordinaire (I don't know, maybe they did, maybe they didn't) would not have found that causing significant uproar in his targets, remit or how he was backed.

But, yeah, nice one Leslie, another nice little excuse there. Just sowing another seed in idiots' minds that it wasn't your fault. What a shame that, like most of your excuses, it is total bollocks.

"So one of the first questions I asked of the Coates family at Stoke was: 'Are you going to stick around?' They said yes and that's a real attraction for me. The stability of the club and the people I know who are involved are reassuring. I work best under those circumstances."

What exactly was more stable? Working under Ecclestone or Thaksin (previous owners at those clubs) or working under Mansour and Fernandes, neither of whom show any sign of leaving (as he suggests) and both of whom (made the grave mistake of) backed this liar to the hilt.

I feel sorry for Stoke. MH is a shit manager & nothing is ever his fault. I honestly can't believe anyone else has employed him after QPR. Worse we will have to watch his press conferences again.

It's embarrassing. You could make a very long book with all the bullshit Hughes quotes and the facts that make them look like the complete and utter rubbish they are, but he has to make up this crap to fight his corner otherwise he'd have to admit what a complete and utter totally horrific embarrassment of a monstrosity he's made of some fantastic opportunities

As expected, and as ever, Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki are joined with Mark Hughes. Appointments confirmed today.

Hughes and that comfort zone Garry Cook was talking about... same men with whom he has failed before. Afraid to use new coaches, new methods...

His teams could play some entertaining football, but defensively couldn't stop a runny nose. Some of those games were so frustrating...

-- Thu Jun 20, 2013 9:27 am --

There is so much truth in this. No man has been given more money to be found out, and then given job after job.

Will wonders never cease! I am convinced he signed a deal with the devil, or Rumpelstiltskin, to be a manager in the Premiere League. Unfortunately he didn't specify he wanted to be a successful one. And here I was worried Stoke were going to lose their tough guy image...

I found a little more respect for Steve Bruce in all this. He swallowed his pride and dropped down a division, and brought a team up. His successors at Sunderland haven't really done much better after he was gone. It will be interesting to compare the two again this year.

He seems to do best with journeymen players (e.g. Blackburn and Wales) so he might find his own level of mediocrity at Stoke. When it comes to big egos and players who don't owe him he looks lost.

His constant blaming of all and sundry never endeared him. That's probably why he gets a bigger kicking than other run-of-the-mill managers.
