The only one you could put up in support of your comment is Kidd and he played long enough with us to lose his rag tag.

Reading the first few pages of this thread gave me the biggest laugh all day.

So much hate towards a manager who was given the task of bringing top quality to a side which didnt have the reputation, or prestige, to back up the ambition at the time. He's a decent manager who was given an open chequebook, who suddenly has a load of ego's on his hands.

I still think that remains to be seen...if he does as well this season with stoke, and the signs are good with the people he has bought in, he could land another big club.
If he doesn't impress a 2nd time then fair enough, the circumstances at city during that period were very unique though imho...he was essentially taking on a mid club with aspirations.

Was he responsible for the scouting of those players or even a factor in bringing them in? I'm not convinced, but I don't know.
