Hughes to joke city

Hughes is a fantastic manager on a budget but then loses it when he has cash to spend. He's found some bargains from abroad in the first case (Santa Cruz at Blackburn and Arnautovic and Diouf now at Stoke) but seems to focus on buying overpriced players who are familiar with the league when he has the money.

He's made Stoke far more pleasing on the eye and improved them as a team when a lot of the players were bought by Pulis because they suited hoofball. Hughes is doing a cracking job there.

This.

Some people need to give the man a break. So what if he was a Rag, is anyone suggesting he wanted City to fail whilst he was manager just because he was a former ManUre player? He made a **** of himself blaming Mancini for touting for his job when he was still our manager which was utter bollocks, but since Fulham & QPR I think he's found his true level again and I for one wish him all the luck in the world (apart from when he plays us that is)...

In general Stoke fans were underwhelmed when Hughes was appointed. The parting of the ways with Pulis split opinion. Not because of the direction the club was taking - that looked to be South, notwithstanding what he has done at Palace - more out of a recognition of what he'd achieved - which for most realists who had seen the club ship 5 goals at Oxford away in the old Div 3 (for example) was little short of a miracle.

On the other hand, you can only appoint someone who (a) is available; and (b) is prepared to join. Message boards are littered with delusional opinions, and some people were suggesting Moyes for Stoke. Again, notwithstanding what he did at your neighbours, a manager like Moyes is out of Stoke's league. If you'd put a gun to the head of his adorable labrador puppy, Mr Snuffles, he might have pondered for a moment. Before saying "no thanks".

But the jury was out on Hughes, until (I would say) a month or so into the new year, since when the form took off. 9th for a club like Stoke is unbelievable. I don't doubt that he (Hughes) thinks he can upgrade from Stoke, and if (as some think) he can "push on" (awful phrase) then he may be able to do so.

Unlimited funds sends him mentle .
Not so sure about that .
What i don't get about Hughes ,is why he failed so badly at our club .
He had the biggest budget any City manager ever had .
And yet he looked half arsed about every signing a part from Santa Cruz .
He's one manager i wish we never signed .
