Hughes

I'm at a loss how anyone can look at our gaggle of one dimensional midfielders he brought to the club with dewy eyes and cry about what could have been.

I'd love to have been with Mancini when he went through the players with Brian Kidd the day he came here.

"Ok, so Barry, Kompany, De Jong and Ireland play in the middle. Which one is our box to box player?"

"None of them boss."

"And our playmaker?"

"Well, Ireland is an attacking midfielder but he's not a playmaker in the mould you would understand."

"For fucks sake"

He saddled us with a squad full of players, 75% of whom are nowhere near good enough for where we want to be.

It will take another £250 million to kick us on to be good enough too.

The likes of Santa Cruz, De Jong, Barry, Zabaleta, Bridge, Wright-Phillips, Toure (maybe Adebayor) etc, all his big money signings, are simply not good enough and that's without mentioning those who have been and gone.

There's many a team in the EPL who would love to have those players. I remember it took Bridge and Lescott a good few games to get some kind of form. We have suffered a little by not having an established set up with chalked in personnel. There are too many players who are very similar and I always get the impression that whichever one gets picked, we'd have better with t'other 'un!

Get abit pissed off with the slagging off of Hughes signings think all of them have been good, maybe abit overpriced due to our status with only RSC being dubious more due to his injury record than his performances!

Its called a step up in the right direction!

Theres no way we were going to attract top world class players with money alone straight away!!

Maybe this transfer window hopefully with the added incentive of Champions League football we will be able to attract the next higherr level of player and so on an so on!

Name me any premiership team who wouldnt wont Tevez, Ade, Bellamy, Given, Kompany or De Jong in there team even Zab and Bridge!!

Not many!!

Under Hughes we never came close to beating United infact the two games against them last season we never even troubled them so not sure he'd have beaten United over two legs or what makes you so confident that he'd do so. Hughes was sacked after a run of 1 win in 10 games, he won his final game so when he was sacked we'd won 2 of 11 leauge games which is a terrible return

You might not rate Mancini but he's improved results since he's come in in the leauge and we're in with a great chance of getting 4th

I wondered how long it would be for this kind of thread, Hughes is gone, Hughes took the club backwards in terms of points over his first season. Ohhhh but those that think he was the man "he didn't have his own players". Yet you all come out of the woodwork after a loss now and want to judge Mancini. As for beating the rags over 2 legs I think you will find that he lost the 3 games he managed against them for City, including 2 of the most gutless derby performaces last season. Yes losing to Everton wasn't I high point in the season, but you want to bring back a man that couldn't win a league game in 2 months and that brought you Notts F, Fulham and YES even Everton last year!

Oh and I forgot about Lescott!!

As about getting rid of disruptive Elano well I think he should have shown more balls earlier than he did like when he put Robbie and Ade on the bench in his last game of the season!

Elano on his day was a great player unfortunately hedidnt have many of those days!!

Does it really matter ? He's gone, so we'll never know what might have happened.

Hughes made some very poor, overpriced buys and left us short in the middle of the park.
Add to the fact that even 2 wins out of the sequence of 8 draws we had and we'd be in pole position now.

And why didn't Mancini rectify this over the January transfer window so?

He knew both Ireland and Robinho had been struggling with form and injuries all season, Hughes didn't have the benefit of that knowledge before the season kicked off.

You can't lay all the blame with Hughes, Mancini has to take his fair share of it as well and recognise his own mistakes or we will never make any progress

Hughes spent £14m on Kolo Toure and then made him captain!!!He bought a keeper and sent our best one on loan!!!
He bought De Jong for £17m and Barry for £12m and failed to buy anyone creative or who can control a midfield.

I could go on, but the story is Hughes was fucking shite, get over it. You watch when the top clubs are managerless you see if Hughes takes over any of them.

Hmmmmmmmmm who was captain last night??

MH never came close to beating United as our manager. Our cup performances under Hughes were shit. We didn't beat a single team of any note and lost to some really shit ones. Our points per game ratio was much lower under Hughes.

He will enjoy the challenge of West Ham but he has no place managing a top team. And I'll bet you he's never allowed to throw money around ever again.

He tried to buy a playmaker and a box to box midfielder in January you may remember (or seemingly not), and the fact the deals weren't completed had nothing to do with Mancini.

Not entirely correct. I do believe that he tried to get McDonald Mariga and Gago, but missed out on Mariga due to some work permit bullsh*t and then didn't have time to get Gago. Hughes had a whole summer and didn't even attempt to bring in one creative midfielder.

At last, someone without short-term memory loss!!

Well obviously he didn't try hard enough did he! By your logic I should give Hughes credit for trying to sign Kaka.

And which one of the Real and Inter bench warmers he tried to sign is meant to be a playmaker?

Why can't some people admit that Manicini is not perfect and has made some mistakes when it is fairly obvious that he has
