Hugo Larsson

Yeah Wharton has much more ability than Kalvin in my mind. We have had other superstar talents like Jack Rodwell who was supposed to be the next thing. Turns put he was the next thing in Sunderland’s bin.

So are you saying we shouldn't buy any highly rated young English players? Is that it?

Because we've also bought foreign players that haven't quite worked out. Suggesting not to buy Wharton because Roswell happened would be a bit of a leap wouldn't it?

I think we have highly rated young english players. We should play them instead before signing some random kid from Southampton.

There are very few english or association players that are worth signing.

Look at the national team who would you sign?

Livaremento maybe
Trafford back up due home grown
Rogers back up due to home grown
Hurricane a few years back
Jude not happening
Gordon if you want a few more pens per year

The once we could get would be very pricey.

The rest nah

We are better off picking up someone like Kasper then to fill the quota or Gittens, Nmecha or Gnabry then paying over the odds for a PL player.

We should sign english players for the youth teams.

I agree with you about our youth players, but you can't complain about how Stones, Sterling and Walker did for us for years either.

There are good English players out there, who could become great for Pep. Not all can cope obviously, but some certainly can. You don't get the same value for money as buying abroad, but having more HG players increases our squad size of players who are ready - not leaving us to rely on players who could become good.

Decent points about some of our ex players. Not sure those are the names I'd want, but there could be others out there, or other foreign players classed as HG because of growing up here.

Wharton's got more to his game than most of his age though, whatever nationality. Not sure we'll go for him because of getting Nico, but I think he's got the ability to step up a level still. Time will tell I guess.

Sounds good but we need to be careful about anointing anyone the most talented footballer from (insert country) in generations, there was a Swedish kid I saw a good 15 years back called Albin Ekdal he looked a future world beater so confident and assured, whether for Sweden youths and domestically in central/attacking midfield or out wide at 16/17 he looked a top talent... So much so Juve signed him big things were expected but he couldn't transfer his performances to a big league, he since became a fairly solid decent player operating in deeper roles mid table quality at best far from his early promise.

If this kid Larsson is anything like Sergej Milinkovic-Savic we should defo be interested in him, never understood why he stayed at Lazio so long they obviously slapped a massive fee on him, they scared off other clubs but he could've done a top job at any big club I reckon.

This kid still only in the Swedish league which could mean a great bargain, the only issue that we could face is he might prefer a move to a lessor team to guarantee game time.
In the Swedish papers it seems thatHugo Larsson is very keen to move to City, and why not it’s a good time to go to city, bad season, old players so i think game time is possible and there is always the Pep reason many want to train with the best one. But papers are papers.

Yes Sterling much undervalued due to his demeanor. He was a fantastic servant to the club. Kyle best denfensive rb of the modern era. Stones would be the best defender along with Van Dick in the PL era if he had less injuries. He is still one of the best.

If you compare the success of the signings from the bundesliga to our PL signing signings they far better and if you factor in average spend it is not even close. Also factor in the ridiculous wages the players are on compared to European counterparts

It was great watching Nico today just wish Pep would trust youth more.

Agree with you. A lot this summer will depend on who we can get to leave. If our older foreign players don't go, but HG players do, then we'll have to look for HG players. Foreign players leaving gives us more options in the transfer market.

If palace and Brighton are going to quote "fuck off, city buying from the prem" prices for Wharton and Baleba, I think Larsson for 60m add ons included is the next best thing we can do.

I think we are looking for a second pivot/b2b player to be next to Rodri and behind a more attacking mid. I think he fits the bill. Fbref says he's not much of a dribbler though. Recieves the ball quick and gets it out.

0 assists means he's not really responsible for the final ball. Unsure if that's a product of his role or it's not in his skill set

Either way he looks like a good young player that tons of top teams and sniffing around. And like I said, he's way way way more reasonably priced than the shiny prem players.

Later is a good shout for 2nd keeper

Is this real?
Yes we have monitoring him for ages and stepped up our interest. We were keen before he went to Frankfurt but Hugo chose Frankfurt then as he felt the step was bit too steep between Malmö and us. He is very keen on moving to us and feels ready for the next step. I am KFA on everything except swedish football transfers ;-)

Is this lad the alternative to Wirtz? This might be worse than Scott Sinclair instead of Eden Hazard

No, he will be looked as a Gundogan or Kovacic replacement, of which I think we will have many options being thought about.

Wirtz is the long-term De Bruyne replacement and no doubt the single most important transfer we will be aiming for this summer in my opinion.

Good thing if we signed Larsson is we would actually get some speed in midfield. Only Nunes is quicker among the midfielders plus he covers a lot of ground each match. His pace almost on par with Omar.
