Same here. I carried a knife, we all did in those days, part of living in Wythenshawe. People would get stabbed for a fiver at the cash machine in those days.
Our school regularly got weapons together to go fight poundswick high school.

We used to wag school and go into Manchester to the Chinese martial arts shop to buy nunchuks and throwing stars especially.

Lol good old days!

I've used a cash machine in Wythenshawe for more than 30 years and never one been stabbed. Funny that.

The size of that knife! It’s a miracle nobody was killed because that’s going through vital organs or slitting throats if it hits a bad place.

I have no doubt that social media and the 24/7/365 news cycle is exacerbating the news that is made.

However, my family still lives in and around Manchester and they’ve been touched by this seeming knife crisis, something that, much like most of the gun crime in Chicago still is, used to be restricted to certain places and a very specific sliver of society. No more.

I remember some of my best mates, at the times, buying nunchuks and throwing stars!! Don't remember knives, but I'm sure they did if they were buying that stuff!

Not stupid at all. Increases in stop and search is needed and it should be targeting anyone that dresses like a gangster. If that's mainly black people so be it.
