Yep my bad. I didn't know that he had been suffering for 20 years, I presumed he had just thrown it out there.
But what I don't understand is why everyone is pandering to the fact he's got depression, does that make what he has done more or less damaging to himself, his wife and everyone concerned?

Has he done what he's done because he's depressed or would he have done what he had done if he wasn't depressed?

That is what is making me shrug my shoulders and say.....and?

You do understand that a newsreader is appointed to read the news?

There was someone on the news last night (when it broke who the person was) saying that the news reader becomes part of the story when they tell it. I didn’t agree myself but presume some people are that absorbed or whatever and there must be some truth in this opinion. Seems weird to me but it’s not my place to tell others how to think.

Reading between the lines on this the wording of his wife’s statement leads me to think he’s been sectioned after self harm - you simply don’t go in to hospital for inpatient treatment for the foreseeable future just because you’re depressed.

Obviously can’t say for sure but probably best to not get into depression/mental health top trumps.

They and others on here are making out that the age difference is a major issue yet they are happy to have a sixteen year old on page three which I’m quite sure excited vast swathes of ageing and elderly men .

I am not doing any kind of trumps game , schoffields daughters stopped him comitting suicide when the stuff came out about him , neither should be using their depression as a reason for doing wrong , it does a diservice to the millions with clinical depression who dont do risky behaviour

His depression isn’t a’dead cat’ though is it. It’s not the sole reason he’s found himself in this situation but it also can’t be ruled out as part of mitigating circumstances that has led him to where he is. Mental health issues are a lot more faceted than just depression.
You seem annoyed that he’s getting some sympathy whilst Schofield didn’t. Says a lot tbh.
