Hyde United were my local team growing up, but with moving to the city centre i pretty much forgot about them in a way. Ive just checked the website, as im gonna try and get to a few games ,and they seem to be now known as "Hyde FC", have they dropped the United?! Does anybody know why? My first instincy was that its because City pretty much saved them, they havnt even got a red home kit anymore!

City have bought them out, used to live on Mootram Road in Hyde growing up so was always a massive Hyde fan.

On the top of the seated stadium there is a big Man city badge, also on the turnstyles.

Its weird in a way, they are loosing there roots but hey they have had a get of jail free card from City!

Cheers mate. I know they were originaly called Hyde FC, someone told me its because of the 125th anniversary that they have changed there name. Im gonna have to give my mam a visit, give us an excuse to watch a game. Is the stadium refurb any good?

Hi, Does anybody know if the City reserve league games at Hyde are still free entry for season ticket holders like a few years ago when we used to play at Hyde.

I know you normally have to pay for senior cup games like the City vs Utd game a few weeks ago.

The OS states £3 entry for the Villa game tomorrow. Not got a problem with paying it. Just wondered thats all.

Thanks

I also used to live on Mottram Road and had a season ticket there. Colin Darcy, Terry Megram, John Timmons, Malcolm O Conner. I've seen all the greats ;-). City have given the a lifeline and should be applauded for it.

I know we are not Hyde United anymore we are Hyde fc, but I cannot post a new topic due to not having 100 posts, so here goes.

On Saturday the 9th October there are NO Premiership or Championship matches and we have a game against Boston United at Ewen Fields 3pm kick off.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.hydefc.co.uk/newsarticle.php?id=239" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.hydefc.co.uk/newsarticle.php?id=239</a>

Please come along to the match if you can support the Tigers in this tough game, like you have done in renovating our ground.

You will all be welcomed with open arms, so please come along and help make this a day to remember for both Hyde Fc and Manchester City working together.

Regards

Phil Chadwick

I thought the name change was because Hyde United FC went under (wound up by HMRC?), and Hyde FC was created?

City haven't "bought out" Hyde, they've just invested a lot of money into the club and stadium. The Elite Development Squad play their games there, and as part of the deal, CITC sponsor Hyde FC, and City have had the infrastructure at Ewan Fields improved.
