I don't get arena gigs

I don't think anyone will disagree with the op but its simple.
Small bands small venues.
Big bands big venues.
I do sometimes wonder why popular bands, who easily sell out their venues, don’t live stream to cinemas. Looked at getter tickets for Springsteen and the prices were crazy

Regarding the queue for tickets in 1978, Paul M'cCartney and Wings were playing at The Manchester Apollo in Ardwick.

Tickets went on sale at the box office on a Sunday morning, so I went along about 9am, the box office opened at 10. When I arrived, the queue went up Hyde Road almost to Devonshire Street bus station.

I joined it after grunting a bit, queued for about four hours, eventually got to within a metre of the box office window and a sign went up...SORRY SOLD OUT.

Managed to see Led Zeppelin three times though £5 and £7.50.

I have been to the MEN once and it was awful and souless

I have been in tents small venues, dance halls, ballrooms, fields and they have all been fantastic

give me the Apollo, Ritz, Ruby Lounge, Yes, BOTW, Albert Hall, night and day, even the old ducie bridge any day over an arena

And many more similar venues in Sheffield, liverpool, leeds, london

cannot see me ever entering the CO-OP one if honest

Does anyone agree?
100% agree. Nothing better than a small venue. These massive shows are shite. I've missed a lot of big shows cos I just don't "get it"
It's baffling to me why folk go.

One act that I want to see is Baxter Dury but It looks like I'll have to fly somewhere to watch him.
He generally does small venues and it wouldn't be worth his while to come over this way.
I actually don't think he has ever played here or the states.
I almost went to see him in Manchester the other night at new century hall but couldn't make the dates work.

I saw Depeche Mode in the MEN and it was fantastic.

He was sold out in the UK when I looked, stupidly I thought there would be a few dates to promote his new album but not really that many and all sold out.

My mate went. Said it was great. There's three videos up on YouTube.
Only holds about 800 people. I should have went.
Looks like he's going ack out on the road in April. Fingers crossed.
