I Drive A Skoda Superb Don't Ye Know

Motorway miles are the least damaging for most cars. It's stopping and starting that causes wear *

*if the motorway in question is the M25, then disaster.

How come I see more broken down cars on the motorway than anywhere else?
Also, motorway traffic jams are a regular occurrence, so it is stop start, and people press the pedal down very far on motorways and the car gets hot and vibrates, that doesn't happen in City driving.

I can't imagine a scenario where if I saw that ad, I wouldn't nudge the wife and say 'Look love, it's done 180,000 miles, but they're only motorway miles. So really it's like it's done a lot less.'

Because there are more cars on the motorway and because there's a special lane for breakdowns.

Motorway miles are less stressful for engine and mechanicals than most other driving. It's just as simple as that. Short trips in particular are extremely damaging to modern cars.

Fuck off with your sensible retorts! :)

Basically though I truly doubt anyone has been suede by someone putting ''mostly motorway miles'' when looking to buy a car.

Ha. Sorry!

I guess it depends on the car. I'd not worry at all about a high mileage repmobile. But then I'd be really worried about the one I have if it was low miles owned by a little old lady - the engine would be wrecked as it hadn't been thrashed. Same with any performance VTEC engine, you have to redline them often to keep them in condition. So like anything I guess it's knowing what you're looking at.

For TangerineSteve.

Great motor,perfect for a taxi.
Loads of room,4 cases in the boot no problem.
AND THE FRONT LIGHTS.....
So easy to change. :)
Anyone else got a "lower class" car like me.

as if.

wouldn't be seen dead. rather be a rag.

Yep, it's not called the Skoda Irony for nothing....

It's a historic Skoda name. Before they fell under Soviet occupation the Superb was the luxury model of Skoda and is one of the more historic cars of the pre war era.
