Re. the MPG; I do, actually (it's a 1.6 diesel). Low to mid fifties would be the average consumption. As for the cases? No, I probably wouldn't get 4 in the boot. You'd get two in fairly comfortably, with a third at a squeeze (Oo-err).

I collapse in a fit of giggles when I see fuel consumption figures like that. And some cars now get 70mpg. Me? About 18mpg. Oh dear.
What the fuck are you driving? A chieftain tank?

RX8. Economy is not it's strong point. Mind you I got 300 miles out of a full tank (60 litres) today for the first time ever. Oh yes...

Mazda seem to not give a shite about mpg stuff.....fucking good cars though. I'd love a RX8, but they're just too expensive to run. Isn't the tax right up there with high end cars?

Rotary engines are notoriously poor on fuel economy. Post 2006 ones are very high on tax, pre then not too bad. They're moneypits as cars though, you have to go in with your eyes open. People buy them cheap and then find its because the engine is knackered. No big deal to rebuild the engine as long as you factors that into what you pay for one. And a rebuild means a better than new engine, unlikely piston cars.

Motorway driving...up to the rarefied heights of 25mpg. Fab! :-)

Suffice to say I currently love the Saudis...

I bet they love you more!

My 1.6 Focus diesel gets around 52MPG according to the computer. In money terms around £25 gets me around 250miles in rush hour.

Makes me laugh when someone is selling a car and in the ad they put 180,000 miles, mostly motorway miles. They're still fucking miles aren't they?

Also when they say it's a people carrier. All cars are people carriers damn it.

Motorway miles are the least damaging for most cars. It's stopping and starting that causes wear *

*if the motorway in question is the M25, then disaster.
