I Know It’s Over

Going to be like the Covid season again
An anfield procession
They’ll be 8/9 clear of us after the match at anfield in a few weeks

Don’t care if I’m called negative, it’s the truth. We’re not good enough to get near a title
In the 2020/21 season we were 8th in November with no injury crisis and had virtually no pre-season.

We won the league by 14 points.

Have some faith

Let’s be honest we haven’t played to our usual standards all season, we’ve got away with results that could have gone differently.

The hierarchy of the club need to take responsibility for where we currently are with the squad and performances.

There seems to have been no forward planning for two summers now, but last summer was very, very poor. Savinho really needs a season to get settled and his head round the league and what Pep wants and we only picked up Gundogan because he asked and Barca needed to offload.

We allowed Alvarez to leave and did nothing to replace him hoping that Bobb would be good cover for Haaland. That turned out well, and Haaland will break down eventually I expect.
However, we make a loads of cash on Alvarez so that’s ok.

We started this season with a squad who our top 10 performing players had played 60+ games the previous season, then nearly the whole squad went to international tournaments.

We have several ageing players who now are struggling with injury regularly, De Bruyne has now had 3 continuous season plagued by injury, not a game or two but big chunks of the season.
Walker’s decline has been noticeable over two seasons.
Stones like De Bruyne is missing multiply games regularly over the last couple of seasons.

Grealish and Doku can’t stay fit and missed games last season as well as now.

Foden is picking up injuries and got totally demoralised by his England experience this summer and is still suffering for it.

We haven’t addressed a back-up to Rodri for, well ever. No wonder he finally got knackered for the season.

Nunes wouldn’t be playing if everyone was fit and Lewis shouldn’t be going game after game, but needs must.

The powers that be, decided that we didn’t need to strengthen when let’s be honest we could have done with 3 starters to challenge the other players and expand the squad.

One common factor is all our regular injured players go to every international call up, even to friendly games, and often come back injured. Ake, Dias, Walker, Stones, Foden and Grealish to name a few this season alone.

I wish our senior ageing players would support the club that pays wages not playing in pointless internationals, and the club should be advising they are not available.

I have faith and if we get any trophy this season it will probably be our greatest achievement.

I do wonder if the lack of investment has anything to do with the 115 charges and possible penalties if we lose the case.

Well done @Johnny Mars Bar
Your mocking highlights you as a grade a …………
If you’re ever near Manchester I’ll treat you to a pint and a tour of the blue side of Manchester.
You won’t need to worry about ‘I know it’s over’
They’re over at Trafford, a different borough of Manchester. That you may know , or not?

You do realise at some point it will become reality?
We do have average players without courage or conviction in their game right now.
Right, but the thing is, if you keep saying "We're doomed, we're doomed" 100 seasons in a row, and then in the 100th season we finally are doomed, that doesn't mean you were right - it means you were wrong 99 times. I could start saying "We're going to get relegated" every season from today, and in 2074 when City eventually get relegated I could just point and say "See, I was right!"

We have as we don't have a good enough squad to win the Prem. We know that Pep likes to work with a small, high quality squad. Well we have 50% of this requirement

One half decent opponent in our CL group who we struggled to get past at home

I'm certain other bluemooners will read this and be thinking "at least we're not in the second division, or struggling for PL survival, so be grateful for what you have." Which is correct and I am. But it doesn't take away from the fact that we're not winning the PL this season and we are in a real dogfight to secure a top four finish

Just gonna keep bumping these. They're great reading.
What we did last season in winning the league was remarkable and to a certain extent fortunate (Arsenal throwing it away) and due to how the season went, we all saw the cracks appearing, yet nothing has been done to remedy that

Again, you could put these exact words in a post from November/December 2023. Verbatim.

Like Paulchapo said at least we all know deep down it’s not going to be our year. Hopefully off the pitch it will be but on it.. it’s time for a rebuild. My expectations have definitely come down but I hope we can still challenge for top 4.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines with Pep.

Listening to his interview I think he is saying a lot of players are playing with injuries and that we only have one half of football in us right now.

He seems confident that the worst is over. Time will tell.

Fans will get behind City against Spurs. We know when we are needed.
