I miss Hughes

Spot on JMA. A lot of double standards about. The next 3 games are crucial, so lets wait and see. They sound like those old KGB killers reminiscing for the 'good old days' of Soviet Communism. Those days have gone, comrades

Worst thread I've ever read on here.

We've gone from ludicrous ramblings where people were shouting about only being able to judge a manager after he had a) spent 24 months at the club, b) replaced 90% of the squad with his own signings, c) had 4 full transfer windows and unlimited funds and d) been able to change every aspect of the club and member of backroom staff, to the same people claiming that the new manager isn't up to it after two months.

It is outrageous imo.

Also strange to see that some of the most vocal "Hughes inners" who were rabid in their claims that "Hughes outers" never gave Hughes a chance and were always against him, are now found on threads criticising the new manager after two months and claiming that their hero was always miles better than the multiple trophy winning Mancini.

What happened to their outrage about giving a new manager time and full support and not being able to expect much from a new manager early on?

I can pick holes in some of Mancini's actions since he's been here but it could it be that there are a few love struck Hughes men who are straying slightly too close to their often uttered "desperate to be proved right" phrase?

(In fact, given some of the out of order comments I saw aimed at Mancini on here before he had even managed a single game, I know that there are at least two or three very vocal posters who definitely fall into that category)

Agree, however I was a hughes inner, but not once have I made any comment about getting rid of Bobby. some lunatics on here, Given out Hughes in elano back sheik rattle and roll with it people

Bang on.

As always City fans are forgetting how it actually was at the time.

Let's bring back Sven, Geovanni, Dunne, Elano, Hughes et al.

Lets remember beating Newcastle 3-1, scoring against United, winning 4 player of the years, scoring great goals in the sunshine and playing 'great attacking football'.

Lets forget though losing 8-1 to boro, not having any work rate, countless own goals, being a miserable workshy 1 in 4 game performance and losing 3-0 at home to Forest.

I said it at the time - Mancini might not be the man, but I'm certain Hughes wasn't.

Oh and lets recall Bojinov and resign Van Buyten.

At this point i'm fairly convinced that we have more than our fair share of delusional fans.

How can people say Mancini has inherited squad with not enough cover?

GK - Shay and Taylor
RB - Richards and Zabs
CB - Lescott, Toure, Onouha, Kompany (and Boyata)
LB - Bridge, Sylvinho, Garrido
Mid - NDJ, GB, Ireland and MJ (Not Hughes fault he got injured, but hence why a replacement was needed in Jan)
LM - Petrov, Bellers, Robinho
RM - Sweep and Vladi
ST - Ade, Tevez, RSC, (one of rob and Bellers) and i guess also the smiler.

Now i make that at least 2 suitable replacements in each position. Our second string team from that selection should still have been able to beat Hull. So if Mancini choses to play ppl out of position that is up to him. But he does have a good squad to pick from, and this doesn't even include the reserves, Or the players who are apt in another position, like Vinnie in midfield, Toure at RB, Lescott and Baz at LB etc.

Fair enough they are not "his" players. But they are good players that he should be able to beat hull with.

and did "Hughsie" beat hull when we played them at home in the Prem when he was on his way to setting an all time record of draws with his exciting, mesmerising brand of football?

Of that list, how many have been available over the last couple of months.

Richards, Lescott, Toure, Kompany, Onuoha, Bridge, SWP, Bellamy, Johnson, Adebayor, Santa Cruz and now Tevez takes a fair chunk out of that depth.

Yeah, we had a squad that was good enough to beat Hull, as we did in two of the three matches that we failed to do that under Hughes.

But you'll always get a bad result here and there, and if you look at one particularly bad game in isolation any manager in the world will look rubbish.

No, but the game Hughe drew was because of one of the most dubious penalties this season. And the team Hughes had last year was pretty pish in comparison to this year, and Hull where in the form of their lives (top 8 i think or better?).

I'm not saying Hughes is better, just that Mancini has a better squad than ppl are trying to make out when they staunchly defend him.

i dont know anyone who wants bobby replaced, if what we are led to believe he'll be gone in the summer anyway, the hughes fans, me included are saying with some justification that hughes 's team would have faired better against some of these recent clubs and if not would have at least had a go at them. bobby's tactics are completley wrong in the english game, not only wrong, downright boring.

but i am a hughes fan so perhaps i should move on to his club and leave city to city fans like some dickhead has just posted.

What justification?

Believe me I was a Hughes inner too but this isn't a zero sum game. The idea that we would be third under Hughes at this point is quite frankly absurd.
