I miss Richard Dunne

He was an unfortunate scapegoat for an inept coaching team who thought they could solve our defensive problem by throwing money at it. It's a shame but it's also history.

I like Dunnie, but I dont miss him. He was a good player for us and he gave us good service. He was, however, always prone to mistakes and own goals. It was a good time for him to move on and it has clearly given him a new lease of life and that is brilliant for him.

Move on, he's a player who plays for another club.

What no-one has thought or mentioned, is that Dunne did not want to be a squad player, he is top dog at Villa with an immense team and a great manager.

Also he was probably stale, after ten years and NEEDED a new challenge himself.

No one can begrudge him that.

Also in defence enough managers tried to team up Dunne and Distin after Distin left, proving how good they actually were together.

He could be doing a hel of a job for us! £50m later have we got a better replacement? I think not

Dunne is part of a good Villa defence. Cuellar, and Warnock are good defensive full-backs, where as we have good attacking full-backs, but lack defensively. He also has a good partner in Collins, who I didn't think much of at West Ham, but has really surprised me, absolute bargain. Villa's defence is a good, settled unit. Our back 4 keeps changing, due to injury and lack of form, and it will be interesting to see how Mancini addresses it when the likes of Lescott and Bridge are back, and Onuoha gets fitter. We have the players, its more a case of getting the right fit, rather then lack of ability.

agreed. i think the key is having two settled full backs whose main priority is to defend, get tight and keep their wingers quiet. Then we find our best central pair from any of 5.

As it is i think we're too 'fluid' all over the pitch which is great for our front line but leaves defenders and midfielders having to ask themselves to many questions re; positioning.

I liked Dunny as a person, but I don't miss him....he was prone to too many mistakes, getting sent off etc,

If we are to raise the bar and progress we need better quality, but I am pleased he is doing very well at Villa.........
