Would you go on holiday to Turkey or is too risky?

They have issued a warning for tourists. No sure if it's the whole country or just the south east areas.

I'm off in 3 weeks regardless.

:) Nah not a joke, going to see my sons in Adana. Just wish I could bring them back with me, especially in light of what's happing at the moment.

Only just realized I'll miss the derby, but I really couldn't care.

What Rascal posted has me even more worried though. I hope it isn't true. I know that a lot of Kurds live in Turkey in general, and I hope we don't see more protests/deaths in other cities.

Closest Syrian border is 153 miles. But where all the trouble is it's more like 250.

Only been to turkey once and found the blokes a bit strange. Mrs ww the first was in the sea one day and was surrounded by about 10 hairy Turks circling her. She was only about 20 at the time and came out of the sea crying. I then got horrendous food poisoning and crashed a moped and had to spend an hour in a cell. Never going to visit it again. Starting to get a bit wild for my liking. Greece is as Far East as I fancy.

After reading that thread on Rag Cafe and following a few more links, it appears more likely to me that Turkey will support ISIS over the Kurds in that town. Pictures exist of Turkish Army troops with ISIS fighters at the border.


Geo-politically i think NATO would turn a blind eye to any Turkish misdeeds as it needs Turkey as its South Eastern most defence and controllor of the Bosporous against the growing threat that Putin seems to be making. Turkey arnt in NATO in my eyes because they are militarily strong but simply because it means Russias Black Sea fleet would have to remain in the Black Sea

Iraqi oil 'crude' it goes from Iraq into Syria and gets refined then it goes back into Iraq to be sold,a lot of it has found its way into Turkey via smuggling routes

So in this thread it has been posted that it's the French jihadists that are taking charge and giving orders, so not only are they military geniuses they can also take charge of imported crude oil, get it to the refinery, have it refined then sell it on. Not dealing with cave dwelling rebels are we?

Far from it BBB, a lot of Jihadis like the French have had military experience in the French forces, Dutch Jihadis are mostly ex Dutch army, they have oil and money experts within their ranks mostly Saudis and Qataris, they are quite sophisticated but whether they can keep it all together for a few years is doubtful

But remember that no matter how well educated they are; remember they are terrorists, rapists and murderers.
