I still think we will win the league

Not current form, but we've been down and out in two to the races and brought it back to win it. I'm going off that and the fact the other two have no experience of keeping their bottle.
OK. In my opinion, we were much better in those 2 seasons, and had shown good enough form at various points in the season to put a run together.
This season we just haven't - we have already lost more games this season than we did in those, and we haven't put back to back wins together since October. We are different to the other years.
Also - I think Leicester probably have more bottle than people give them credit for - they continue to win games, and their form under pressure in a relegation scrap last season is testament to their 'bottle'.
Wish I had your optimism.

I like your style mate. I prefer to have this mindset too, better than being a miserable bastard.

It does make it a bit harder when we draw 0-0 at Norwich or get twatted 4-1 at home to the scousers but I'm prepared to make that sacrifice ;-)

might as well support the team to the end. We're potentially in the CL QFs and Pep Guardiola is coming to manage our club, i cant really be arsed getting annoyed about it! we'll piss the title on goal difference ;)

Each to his own I suppose. Me, I find it unhealthy to have unrealistic expectations, 3rd would do nicely and forget about title.

People citing our previous runs in 2012 and 2014 are ignoring that, throughout those 2 seasons, we were in substantially better form than this one. Winning 7, 8 or even 9 of our remaining 9 games, which is surely what is now required, would be difficult at the best of times, but when you consider we can't win 2 games in a row, let alone that many, then it's just a pipe dream. We finished with 89 points in 2012, 86 in 2014, if we win our remaining 9 games we finish on 78. That proves we've not been close to the same level of "form" as we reached in any of those seasons. Leicester only need 16 points from their remaining 8 matches and we mathematically can't catch them. 5 wins, 1 draw, 2 defeats. It's not the toughest of asks. We're only 2 points ahead of West Ham, and 4 above United, we need to stop dreaming about the title and concern ourselves with fighting to actually qualify for the Champion's League next season, it's far from a certainty that will happen.

In more important things in life I would agree. This is football though and it won't be unhealthy if we end up not winning it.

Not a hope in hell - 3 points against top 8, can't beat Norwich and Villa away. It's amazing we are still in the top 4.

Top 4 is our target and it will be close

People have been predicting that Leicester will bottle it since about last October, I'm still waiting...

Also needing 2 or 3 teams to collapse late on is far less likely than just having one make a balls of the run-in. I'm an optimist too but there is a limit and mine reached it after the Norwich game.

Based on that comment, your knowledge of football history is pitiful. Blackpool in the 1939/40 season springs to mind.

'Ever' is such a big word to use and one that usually leaves you hopelessly exposed. If you were as bright as you seem to believe you are, you'd realise that. The words we all use in the course of our daily lives are a weapon, both for and against us. You appear to have pretentions of intelligence and yet it seldom seems to manifest itself in any meaningful sense. We're all guilty of not being quite as clever as we'd like to think we are from time to time, and you're certainly no exception.

Hmm, I do agree with you. My knowledge of football history isn't what it could be.

Also, I did write 'ever' under the presumption that people would add the caveat '. . . for us [City]' on their own, what with this being a discussion about City. Perhaps I'm guilty, if anything, of simply being careless/lazy with my economy of language. Criminal, really, given my "pretentions of intelligence". . .

Or (as postulated in Roland Barthe's Death of the Author) does the fault lie with you (the reader) for failing to grasp the implicit, given the context of the wider text?

Perhaps, also, if you had the intelligence you think you have (and quite rightly), you wouldn't make the same kind of presumptions I did, about people's comprehension skills, about my intelligence in order to just rudely have a pop at me.

Yeah but they were under no pressure in October. The pressure, as you know, is quite something when it's looking realistic to win the league. That pressure is on now more than ever and will increase. The media are spinning it that they have to now admit they're favourites and that in turn drums up more and more pressure. It all depends if they can handle it.
