I think I'm addicted to Coke Zero.

Yes, if you’re curled up in a ball twice a week wanting to shit yourself , definitely!
Indeed. It’s not normality to be curled up in a ball at least twice a week (excluding city going 0-2 down).

@Looby blue
You need to cut down. gradually.
You , from your own words, are clearly addicted, so you should try working out (or googling) strategies that will reduce your consumption.
Eg smaller amounts from the fridge, each time.
Find a substitute, like have a chewing gum, whilst at work - not to replace, but to prolong the time intervals between needing to drink it.
Have glasses/bottle of plain water (or variety of healthy cordials) before allowing yourself to have the coke.
Have water at every meal.
always have a large sip of water before the small sip of coke.

And finally, see a GP… the stomach pains might/might not be related, but it’s clearly not ‘right’ - oh and I’m an ‘expert’ on stomach pains, that are debilitating- I had issues for 2 years, I had a whole battery of checks (all my organs working fine - phew), till they went with the assumption I had a ‘bacterial overgrowth’ in my upper intestine - 2 rounds (it came back) of antibiotics (the type that stops your alcohol consumption …) and I’m better.

I know, it’s awful. But I don’t think you have the glass bottle with the metal bottle cap. Old school!

We do mate, it just isn't the most widely sold format because it has a higher markup.

Still available in most big supermarkets. Locally produced, not imported same stuff inside as the plastic bottles and cans.

Looking at what’s in it, there’s not a great deal really.

Water, Colour (Caramel E150d), Phosphoric Acid, Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K), Natural Flavourings Including Caffeine, Acidity Regulator (Sodium Citrate). Contains a Source of Phenylalanine.

Ingredients are shown in order of prominence and even though Phenylalanine is listed, it’s last, and only says it contains a source so it’s not going to be affecting you much.

Caffeine is probably the thing, if anything.

It it could by psychological rather than anything that’s in it. There’s not much more satisfying a feeling than an ice cold fizzy drink washing over your throat. It’s the most refreshing thing going.

So not to be too dull, but I've found that when my overall diet is really healthy, I'm not particularly craving any of these things.

That is an insane amount of fizzy drinks. You’re probably addicted to the caffeine as much as anything else in it.

At least almost all fizzy drinks these days are sugar free, or else you’d probably be dead by now.

As a replacement for my coke/dr pepper mini addiction I’ve been drinking Rubicon Sparkling Water - they are low on calories and sugar but do have sweeteners and natural flavourings

It’s hard to know how ‘bad’ they are or if they’re relatively harmless

Tried to search on it but it’s pretty mixed messaging - is 1 bottle a day ok ?
