Ibra

BARCELONA have admitted they need to sell off Zlatan Ibrahimovic to sign Cesc Fabregas.

The Spanish champions are hard-up for cash and had to borrow £125m at the end of last season to pay their players’ wages.

They are allowed massive overdrafts from Spanish banks and are adamant they will still land the Arsenal skipper.

But new Barca president Sandro Rosell wants to offload Swedish striker Ibrahimovic first. He is trying to do a deal with Manchester City for the former Inter Milan and Juventus hitman.

Roberto Mancini’s side have been keen to sign Ibrahimovic all summer because the Italian boss worked with him at the San Siro.

But they would prefer to offer up Brazilian misfit Robinho in part exchange, while Barca want cash.

Rosell and City chief executive Garry Cook have known each other for more than a decade since they met working at Nike and are trying to complete a deal.

A Barca source said last night: “The president has decided to sort this deal out himself personally.

“He wants to talk to the agent next week and will talk to Cook at Manchester City. It would be better for everybody if they could sell Zlatan because he is not part of Pep Guardiola’s plans for next season.

“Fabregas remains the major priority for the club and they want to raise some cash to get him instead of having to go to bankers.”

Arsenal insist they will not sell Fabregas but Barca boss Pep Guardiola visited the Spanish training camp this week and talked to the 23-year-old.

Rosell also hopes to have a chance of speaking to Wenger while he is in South Africa where the Arsenal boss is covering the World Cup for French TV.

Barca are now making serious noises, official statements and interviews saying he has no future at Barca, hes not in the managers plans and must be sold, they need the money to buy Fabragas.

Its clear they are desperate to sell him to us as we are the only ones that could afford the fee.

I would have him for the £8 - £10 million + Robinho deal that has been floated, if they would take that (probably not enough money for them) not sure. I dont expect him to get anymore goals than Adebayor, maybe 15 - 20 a season in the prem but he is a much much better player than RSC this much is clear so another step forward.

I still think he is the most likely of the strikers mentioned. Even more so now that Barcelona look to be desperate for cash. I really would fear for him at City though. When you think of the general opinions on Ade after a reasonable season, I suspect Ibrahimovic will be disliked at least as much.

If we are signing 2 forwards (which is unbelieveable really) I would be very very happy with Dzeko and Ibra + Ade and Tevez.

I cant see it personally though means 2 of them would be sat on the bench at best or consigned to Europa / Fa Cup / Carling cup duty.

But what do I know if you pay people enough money £160 - £250 k a week rumoured maybe even top players are happy to sign up to play little decent football ?

I am only really interest in Ibra if it means a decent deal getting rid of Robinho.
