ID cards.

Im saying you haven't got a clue about the current set up of government data and the mess its in or have the foresight to see that this digital ID solves a lot of that mess and brings in huge time saving and money saving opportunities for the government and businesses. Your argument is basically non existent gibberish
No its not, but you don't seem to accept other people have different but legitimate opinions to yours on the topic so I'll leave you to your own devices.

Initially very little, i am concerned about where it could lead once the infrastructure is in place though,
I am not sure it can be grasped by some people. Fear of now and what is happening now, immigrants, crime, state of the world, it all trumps any thoughts that a govn might abuse its own citizens in future.

Get the wrong government and you can be sure foreign looking types will routinely be stopped on the street to check ID.

We'll have our own ICE.

Read that twice and still cannot understand your point about targeting the most vulnerable. Can you elaborate please

Whose bank accounts are being snooped on? People on benefits. The % of benefit fraud is tiny compared to others, and yet it's vulnerable people that are being targeted. again.

It's not that difficult.

Sorry mate, but still ( despite you saying it’s not difficult) to understand your point. Are you suggesting this digital ID will be used to examine bank details? If so, where have you read that the D ID will host bank data?

I don’t have a mobile, because I am deaf.
I don’t have a passport, because I can’t travel.
I don’t have a driving license, because I no longer drive.
I will become a non person.
My identity is for sale.

The original post I replied to made out that it would be absurd to think the government would snoop on people's bank accounts. I said that it's going to happen for a certain section of us anyway, and don't think that it won't happen to others.

I haven't read that it will be, but I just wouldn't be surprised. FWIW, I'm against this because of the cost. There are many more pressing issues to throw money at when the country is on it's arse.

I know the banks have to inform the government/hmrc if it suspects dodgy dealings with a bank account, not sure if the government currently is able to simply investigate anyones account tag lag.

Concerning cost, I’ve read £2b which is eye watering, but considering the current play by the government on the state of the economy, maybe they think this is a long term spend to save project.

Let’s see what pans out
