If the rot continues what happens ?

given the injuries and the small squad i'm not sure what people expect. I, for one, see champions league qualification as the one and only target from here. I've thought that for a while. Pretty much since Rodri.

with that in mind i have no problem with us bombing out of the league cup, fa cup and champions league early to help alleviate fitness concerns.

christmas time is always hard on the players so can't see us picking up too much fitness. fingers crossed for at least a stopgap signing.

as a city fan it always has, and always will, be about the journey. so i can handle that. yeah we lost last week and we lost today and to be honest it feels like we never win at home and indeed that we never win away. but i don't care as it's christmas so i'll just have a few bevvies ok.

my missus is red so i'm dreading the derby. she knows we're wounded and hopes it lasts one more week.

Walker grealish definitely akanji ederson haaland all look half hearted atm but I do put that down to fatigue with akanji and haaland (hopefully) Gvardiol seems to have completely gone in every department ( hopefully just a total lack of confidence)
After winning the treble and 4 leagues in a row, isn’t this just inevitable?

We were always going to have a period of not winning and players not being as motivated (after winning so much)

A generous analysis but a stop gap fix would be to get two decent holding midfielders capable of closing out transitions. Plus for this to work need to go back to a false 9 and leave Haaland out. We are too easy to play through and Haaland is redundant in the way we are playing. Why the fuck are we obsessed with wingers got at least 4or 5 only Doku attempts to take his defender on and cross. A job he is only 1/2 capable of and if he loses the ball only has lightweights backing him up hence the midfield requirements
If only we could find a Gaz Baz in January or a DeJong or both
A massive problem we have is players are not quick enough to get in front of the wingers giving them another option and taking a defender away it's massively killing our creativity. If doku and savio are wide we would need foden and possibly nunes as the 8 and 10 to give the wingers the best chance of more space to create? Imo.

Has pep lost at least some of the dressing room? Seems that way to me no longer are players running through brick walls for him. Could he walk?? I think he could.
Doubt it - but some of the fans have definitely abandoned him just 6 months after an unprecedented 4 in a row

Surely even the most negative and pessimistic fan can see this team has reached it's end and we need to replace 4/5 players - hard to blame any of the players as dont believe they are not trying. Ultimately it probably lies with Pep and his staff for not forseeing this and the recruitment has been abysmal. We have suffered badly from injuries and that clearly has had an effect but bigger than that is the players drastically losing their legs/control/form.

What will happen is, we will sign players in the summer (maybe even Jan), we will get Rodri back, hopefully Foden/Stones/Akanji/Ake/Bobb come back to the form they can and we will look a much stronger team again and challenge for the league again next season

The likes of Walker/Gundo/Bern/Ederson may be past their best unfortunately, Lewis clearly needs to taken out and used sporadically again (Peps arm has been forced).

I find all the doomongering so bizarre. This isnt me being a blind happy clapper, I can clearly see how crap we are playing but this is when you support your team the most and stay loyal. After the years of dominating, i'm actually quite looing forward to coming back and seeing a new team. It's painful to watch the last couple of months but now is the time to show your support.

Mcfc is a club in Manchester that traps people who enter. The clubs is a parallel dimension, pocket universe, purgatory, or hell. The citizens are terrorised by rag creatures from the surrounding forest that come out after a defeat, and they must get everyone fit to find a way out.

Well fatigue seems the only other logical explanation then. Therefore pep should take them out play some youth results won't change but we might get our better players back fitter or fresher?? I still have this nagging thought in the back of my head that some players ( mainly the ones who flirted with other clubs in the summer are not putting it all in. Oh and maybe some others that think they have completed football/maybe want improved terms?? Hopefully u are correct and it's all down to injuries and fatigue.
When Pep plays youngsters & it goes wrong, he gets slated for that too. Can’t do right for doing wrong for some fans
We have to ride the storm - & not just for a few weeks

This is in danger of turning into a Brian Clough situation. (It took forest almost a quarter of a century to recover) . Now I am not suggesting for one minute we're in danger of relegation, but anything other than a top four finish will seriously hamper the rebuild. Pep needs to set us up to be difficult to beat not wide open without the personal to play that way.
Wow

But he could try Nico for Gundo. Or McAtee somewhere. Anywhere?

The only players missing yesterday were
Foden, Kovacic, Stones and Akanji and Ake.

Foden has been in as much a malaise as anyone. Kovacic is a miss I grant you. And Akanji is preferable to Walker and Lewis. Stones and Ake are so injury prone I wouldn't count on them playing enough to halt the slide we are on.
And yes Bobb should be available in the NY.

I admire your confidence. But for me this is a mental thing as much as physical. And not just the players. Other teams have copied and adapted the way we play and so far we are just rinsing and repeating a style that has served us well but is probably past its sell by date.
The purchases of Haaland, Doku, Savinho hinted that Pep and Txiki knew this.
I think the 6 players you mention are pretty significant but you missed out Rodri ! You can't lose this quality of players from your squad and not suffer. You can't plan for this. My only gripe is we've let some players leave that we should have persuaded to stay.

Is Pep also an alcoholic?
