if there was a general election tomorrow...

they say BNP because of immigration

yet none of you can ever provide any evidence to suggest immigration is "out of control"

net immigration was less than 100k last year, an insignificant figure in the scheme of things, most of them students actually and the rest mostly qualified and educated

you'll spout that not all immigrants are counted - but will never provide anything to back up to this except the anecdotal evidence of your bigotted mind

the UK takes in a miniscule amount compared to Italy, France, Germany, Spain

yet you have to find someone to blame that your life turned out so pathetic, so pick on someone of a different skin colour, well blame yourselves, this country gave you an education, a home, a stable first world environment to grow up in, it owes you nothing else.

now waits for the pathetic cries of the UK isn't first world. grow up

totally deluded.

tbh i dont think everyone who votes bnp is racist, nor do i think it all comes down to immigration (although certainly it plays a part) the working class in this country has obviously been abanonded by new labour. the labour party was founded on the idea of representing the needs of the labour force, the labour party of the last 12 years has failed to fulfil that role and its no surprise that labour (ie the working class) are looking elsewhere. its interesting that griffin himself only ever talks about race when someone else mentions it first, the rest of the time he is repeatedly espousing what were essentially old labour party points of view.

the big problem with this of course is that the bnp will not be the saviors of the working class of this country, as i posted a few pages ago you only have to look at the record of the few councillors they already have to see what they are really like.

plus its always worth pointing out that nick griffin is the son of a wealthy conservative, who was private school and cambridge educated, is a land owner and hasnt worked a day in his life. the idea that he has the interests of the working class close to his heart is laughable.

BBC tried to stage manage that programme and it backfired in their Middle class elitist faces. The guy got enough information across to warrant an internet search, or even better a Rematch on fairer grounds, the guy couldn’t even phone a friend, totally isolated and stitched up .Rematch for me.So if there was a general election tomorrow,no tick from me,until i hear The mainstream parties sorting that guy out, because they didnt look convincing on BBC when a one man army took them on.Jack straw was a dithering politician, everyones waiting for a jewel of an answer from him, and all we get is,nothing.I found myself saying during his drawled out answering, i forgot what the question was now.Maybe thats how it works?

I'm not really a political animal, I tend to listen to what they say and make up my mind nearer the elections. Manifestos and all that stuff. I suppose we got a flavour of what we can expect during the party conferences a few weeks ago.

The Tory's and the Lib Dems did'nt reveal a great deal, to me anyway, but I listened to Gordon Browns speech, and, well, I just could'nt believe my ears. He was saying we will increae spending on this, we will improve that, etc, etc, and I thought the man must be living in fantasy land. They were wonderful plans and aims, but where was the money going to come to pay for it all?

This country is on it's knees financially. It is going to take a generation to get out of the current mess we are in.

I don't know if it is right to lay all the blame on the government or the bankers. We have also played our part. You know, people borrowing stupid amounts of money so they can buy a house, and then start boasting about how much it has risen in value.

Whoever and whatever is to blame, I really don't care that much, to be honest. I don't understand a hedge fund. The reality is we are in a mess. I'm not looking for a scapegoat, I will be looking to the party that will be honest about what we will be facing over the next 10 to 15 years.

I know it will mean higher taxes. That is the only solution. There is no other way. And whatever the political party's may say in their manifestos, I will be looking for the party that has the most realistic grasp of the current situation and the balls to come out and say it.

I'm not expecting too much from them, to be honest, but all the party's, be they left, right or centre, are going to have their hands tied behind their backs for years to come because of the current financial climate.

And to answer the OP, I won't be voting Labour, as they always have, and always will, mess things up. I gave them a chance in 97. Never again, and after listening to Gordon Brown at their party conference, I need a realist, not a dreamer.

If you admit that you don't understand economics or even care about the roots of the current economic climate, how on earth can you a) determine that "there is no other way" than higher taxes and/or b) determine which "party that has the most realistic grasp of the current situation" ?

Am I going insane or is something not quite right there?

As for me, I won't be voting but I thank those who will from the bottom of my heart for forcing your views on me and others. But then again alot of people who vote are just on a comical merry-go-round - views don't come into it. Either way, if it wasn't based on good intentions, I think I would have more respect for the mugger... atleast he does his dirty work himself. Have a nice night!

I did'nt say I don't understand economics, I said I don't understand a hedge fund.

I wrote about the current economic climate being a noose around the neck of any political party for the next 10 to 15 years. As for me 'not caring' about the state of the country at the moment, nothing could be further from the truth. What I was saying is that we are all culpable. We can blame the bankers all we like, we can blame the government all we like, but at the end of the day, millions of people got giddy about the boom in house prices and took loans out to finance a lifestyle.

That lifestyle has now come home to roost, and like it or lump it, there simply is no other way this country can afford any other action than to put taxes up to repair the damage that has been caused by our collective recklessness.

How else can it be done?

The country has a major problem with it's finances, we are deeply in debt, and ask yourself a simple question. How do we resolve it?

With the country in the state it has been left in after 12 years of New Labour we need someone in power to bring us back.
That for me is Conservative. We can go on the protest votes all we want but what does that really achieve? The Tories have the experience of mopping up after Labour wreck the Country. Say what you want about Maggie but she did an ok job. She made unpopular choice but it got the country back on track. You can't please everyone.
It's no longer about voting as a class. Labour are far away from the roots of looking after the Working class. And the Tories are no longer a Toff party.
I think since they left power the Tories have learnt their lesson a bit and have started to listen.

Warsi the other night I thought spoke well and answered correctly on QT. Jack Straw showed himself as the muppet he is so too Griffin.
Lib Dems will always be also rans.
To even consider BNP as a protest vote is short sighted. They are a party based on race regardless of how they are trying to package it. If you want a protest vote go for the Monster Raving Loonies. I think that will show the parties they need to listen more. If eveyone protested by voting BNP it would just show we are becoming biggots.

*splutter*

the three most senior tories in the country - cameron, osborne, johnson - all belonged to the bullingdon club at oxford

Conservative all day long for me.

I was brought up in a strong Labour household, drummed into me that this was the right party for the working classes. However, time and my own mind make the decision easy for me, this present and previous Labour governments have brought this once great country to its knees, 12 years they have had to put right the wrongs of the previous Tory government, we are in the worse shape of any of the major world so called power houses.

Only this week the prediction from Alistair Darling and the rest of his cronies was, we would be out of recession, what happens, negative growth again, they havn't got a fuckin clue what is going on with anything that has happened on their shift. Immigration, finance, health, un-employment, manufacturing, education, benefits.

The sooner that Blair is brought to trial for war crimes the better, and anybody who seriously thinks that voting Labour is the right thing to do cos they always look after the working classes and their parents did, needs to pull their heads from their arses and realise that they have bankrupt this country, and me along with my children and their children and their children will still be paying for this Labour parties reckless spending for eternity, we will never pay the debt back.

Feel better for that.
