If there were to move the away fans

Liam
You've not read the thread! I believe very strongly something does need to be done. I've posted about this for a long time. The two singing sections need to be brought together somehow. That is going to involve moving the away fans. Possible to the corner area where 110/111/109 is.

That to me is the solution - give the fans one voice which the rest of the ground will identify with and join in.

It will also ensure new songs are more likely to take off.

At the minute we have.

["Singing Section"] - [Away Fans] - [South Stand Singers]

It was the Same at Maine Road

[Kippax] - [Away Fans] - [North Stand Singers]

What's your point?

The point is we don't have a designated home end where the atmosphere comes from at Eastlands. At Maine Road we had the Kippax and the North Stand. Both started their own songs and both joined in with each others which then the Platt Lane and the Maine Stand (at times) joined in. At Eastlands we have a singing section of a few blocks and half of the South Stand. Both start songs off but neither join in with each other because they cannot hear each other because of the posistion of the away fans, meaning songs start and then fade out before the other stands in the ground get a chance to join in. Having one full designated end full of singing blues all in tune can be the heart of the ground that gets the other stands singing meaning a better overall atmosphere.

Very succinctly put, IP. I agree 100%.

Maine Road was smaller, more compact and didn't have tiers.

That's the difference. If the North Stand started a song it bounced off the roof and could be heard by all stands.

These days you can sometimes see groups singing from the opposite end of the ground but can hardly hear them, if at all. 111 and South Stand can barely hear each other due to the shape and size of the ground.

I'm not intentionally trying to put words in your mouth, but, aren't you basically saying that the ground is the problem, and not the position of the fans?

Therfore, without redesigning the ground. this is going to be an ongoing problem.

This won't be sustainable though, as there are bound to be fans who want to be near the away fans for the banter, so all that will happen is, over time people will migrate to the side where there are fewer people singing etc to be nearer to the awat fans, and the problem will arise again! I fully understand what you mean, but due to the shape/style/design of the ground etc this is going to be ongoing unless the ground is redesigned somehow!

The design of the ground is one of the problems, Yes, but that's not going to change.

But the reason the singers are down there is not just because that's where the away fans go. They are there because they were historically in the North Stand. The ones in 111 went there because it was designated a singing area.

If they are shifted to one side I don't think many will follow. The people who sit down that end of the ground do it because they want other singers around them.

The best thing to do would be this

[Away Fans] - ["Singing Section"] - [South Stand Singers]

It's simple really and fits all sides of the argument.

Those who want a full designated end full of singing blues.
Those who still want to be next to the away fans for the so called "banter"
and City who can still have the away fans next to the Car and Coach parks.

All can be solved by just a minor arrangement in the seating plan by swapping them over. Sure there will need to be a few minor alterations but it's not like we don't have the money to fix these is there?

It's good that the club are looking at ways to do this, lets hope they can as we all want Eastlands to be the best possible matchday experience for all of us and i beleive having one full end of city fans singing just like at Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton ect can make a huge difference to the atmosphere at Eastlands.
This is the answer, Just move the away fans across one section. Then the away fans are mainly in the corner, and City have a much larger singing section behind the goal.
