The only problem at City is that we're sometimes incapable of going up that extra gear when we need to beat a team who put 10-men behind the ball. Look at our performance at Villa. We was playing some beautiful football, but each player wanted an extra second on the ball, and thus Villa were able to shuffle across and reposition themselves. That's precisely what occurred today. As much as I dislike Balotelli's attitude, games like today are perfectly suited for a player who will be direct. When Johnson comes back and Balotelli gets in full flow, we will be unstoppable.

Of course we are not playing to his strengths. Look what he did with that cracking cross from Richards! He needs the kind of space that can only be provided by a team which plays with width and pace. Give him that and a sustained spell in the team and we'll see just what a diamond we have.
