We need to tighten up the defence next year if we're going to make a realistic challenge. RSC and Barry are both good purchases, the all round play should be better especially away from home. But I would like 1 (possibly 2) defenders between now and the start of the season, we are not good enough there.

Correct, we are far from good enough there. There are a lot of posters who have very short memories when looking back at our defensive disasters last season. I can count on 1 hand (possibly even with a couple of fingers missing) the amount of games where we looked comfortable when teams attacked us, even games we won we were well under the cosh at the back in most of those games.

At least 2 new backs needed and while, like many, i love Neds, he is a couple of seasons off being a top rate CB and i think Dunnie will be departing which means MH needs to have a couple of defensive gems up his sleeve.

Its nice to see a positive outlook and a level view on our progress but you're talking nonsense about our defence, there's a lot of good things about our team, but our defense is not one of them. We leaked soft goals all season, and to some pretty poor teams at that. Richards and Onouha are great prospects, but far from the finished product, the recent U21's was proof of that- they lost a 3-0 lead and then lost 4-0, these are not scorelines of top central defenders.....

If we had a good defense buying CBs wouldn't be one of our top priorities.

Micah Richards - who I will never forget for shutting down Man U the year before last, and who may have as much upside talent as any defender in the world. Onuha - . Bridge. Our stalwart, Dunne. Mr Smooth - Zabaleta. That's a really good back line.

you are aware that both nedum and richards were off the feild when they lost 4 - 0?
