If we win the UCL, will we play the Club World Cup?

If we win the CL final then yes! 22nd December in Saudi is the final. We would have a semi final before that around the 18th. Wednesday 16th August would be the Super Cup final against Sevilla in Athens too.

We have the potential to be the 10th team to win a treble (Celtic's was a quad).

The Super Cup was due to start in 1972 but was delayed to 73 and Ajax' win was unofficial and Celtic didn't have the chance to win it. But only 4 teams have managed to win the Super Cup after winning a treble. The Club World Cup started in 2000 in its current guise. Again only 4 teams have won that completing the pack. Barca twice and Bayern twice. We'd be the first English team to do it. So it's something I'd definitely want us to go and win.

They might be mickey mouse tournaments but they don't come around often and take a lot to qualify for so when you are in them I'd like us to take them seriously. Great unique trophies to have in the North Stand museum! We'd be the 5th English side to win the Super Cup and 4th to win the Club World Cup.

I am not going to lfc and chelsea levels of self grandeur and delusion. Even you know it is a foriegn mickey mouse cup.

Nice that the club get it but I suspect even they know this will get in the way of actually important stuff. (even if we win the CL final that is!). Instead of PL football we will be jetting off to play this noddy cup.

World club cup - Tue, Dec 12, 2023 - Fri, Dec 22, 2023

Thats probably covers 3 PL games, right before the busy december holiday period. Only for a trophy, that EVERYONE except the club that wins it, thinks is worthless.

And if we think this club will get special dispensation (Like United) to maybe not play the FA cup 3rd round they got another thing coming, we will be given no favours and tbh we will be treated like its our own fault. No favours especially when we've got so much money, such a large squad, cheated our way to titles. It WILL be fixture hell and they will love it.

If we could send a representation from the club I wouldnt mind but they demand the top stars go and play this money making FIFA tournament.

Images of Shrek & Co with that gold crest on their chests are seared into my brain like a form of PTSD. The only known cure is to see Haaland, Grealish and Foden with it on their’s.

The club world cup thing is a complete nonsense , it was crap when the dippers won it and it is crap now, another fucking game we dont need in our season
