what scenario would you take

1) top 4 but we drop out of both cups in discrace to crap teams
2) top 6, we get to a QF in a cup and nowhere great in another
3) top 8 (no europe), but we won a domestic cup?

also what do you think hughes would have to do? if 3 was achieved would you keep him? i definetly would, first major honour in decades

In keeping with the "building slowly" policy the club are following, it would have to be option 3 for me. Get that first trophy won and the floodgates will open.

If we won the FA Cup we would also qualify for europe, (If we beat one of the "sky4").

Would have to keep MH as well at least for another year.

I'd definitely prefer 1 - to break the top four would be an exceptional achievement and continue the foundations for future success (read; trophies).

To win a domestic trophy would be awesome but I think the long term benefits of finishing in the top four outweigh it. And arguably its a greater achievement to reach that necessary level of consistency in the league.

This, fully agree.

Breaking the top four would be a bigger achievement than winning a cup, but i'd just like to see us win something before i pop my fookin' clogs, so i'd have to say option 3.

A top 4 finish to a season would be mind-blowing. And then to repeat it season after season - hopefully that's the ultimate goal.

You don't have to be a consistently good team to win a trophy (Portsmouth, 'Boro etc), but to ensure CL football regularly you've got to be good.

Top four every time. Not only will it mean Champions League football and attract the sort of players we aspire to have in the squad but it will also put one of the established top four's noses out of joint. Liverpool, Arsenal and the rags need top four financially every year...not finishing top four might just mess 'em up a little!

it has to be option 1

some fa cup winners : portsmouth, bolton, wimbledon, coventry, preston

some league cup winners: oxford, leicester, middlesborough, blackburn

this proves that favourable draws and luck can get you to wembley but winning week in an week out in the prem will give you the platform to perform on the ultimate stage*the champs league*

we should be aiming for a cup and top 4
