Knowing that it was a SVEN buy that INSPIRED the team performance, how the fook can you justify what you said??

i think Elano was great last night but do you honestly think he would have played if SWP was fit?[/quote]

Case in point. Do you think the team would performed half as well without his leadership and drive to make something happen??

We have to stick with him, if all would have been fit last night we wouldn't have had one Sven player in the team

Curiously I don't think ADUG are judging Hughes based on whether he is better than Sven or not. In fact I doubt whether ADUG ever think about Sven. Being better than Sven is not the essential qualification to be City manager.

Which for Hughes is probably just as well...

Although I did make Elano our best player last night (a Sven buy) and Big Phil (a Sven buy) did score and all Sven ever did with Richards and Dunne was turn them into one of the best defensive partnerships last season so really I am at a loss to know what f**king point you are trying to make

The point i am trying to make is, that is i agree that elano played really well, but the spine of the team is still new, so lets give them time add a few good players to the squad and see where we are twelve months down the line.

9th. With maybe a semi-final thrown in. On second thoughts having to endure Hughes for another 12 months for a 9th spot and a semi ain't worth it. Its not about players or 'spines' its about leadership. Hughes has no leadership skills. He doesn't inspire and frankly he is too comfortable with second best. Take last night where he is babbling about making a statement and how our performance made that statement. No Mark. Its not about the boys putting on a show in front of the boss so that you can save your backside. Last night was about qualifing for the semi finals of the UEFA cup. We didn't. Hamburg did. The End.

He's supposed to be a very patient and clever business man, but If you were in sheikh Mansoor's shoes right now, what would you do???? Just curious to see what decisions some of you would make.

I would ask Hughes to asses his back room staff and ask him to find a suitable older coach who has seen it, been there done it who has great tactical nouse for Hughes to call on as clearly Mark Bowen offers nothing to him in this aspect during games. I'm a big fan of Brian Kidd, he would be the sort of coach I would go after.

The inference with Hughes backers has always been that the doubters can't be proper City fans. A mature argument if ever there was one.

Yet another "you're not a proper fan" message from a pro-Hughes poster slagging off those of us who doubt his ability. It just goes to show the weakness in your argument if all you can come up with is 'stick with him'.

Last night's performance (forget about the result for a minute) proved even more to me that Hughes is not the man for the job. Why? Well, because last night we saw what our players (even when our squad has injury problems) is really capable of. And we are certainly capable of far more than we've done this season. It is Hughes' job to ensure that he gets the very best out of his players on the majority of occasions & he has failed to do that.
