If you were a minimum wage worker in the jobs market today while this coronavirus is running rampant throughout the United Kingdom would you risk your health in working at a supermarket. This is just to finish the year and make sure people can buy food. I most certainly would not risk my health or that of my family just so other people could shop.

If I am a minimum wage worker then I probably don't have the financial security to turn my nose up at work, especially in a climate where there are going to be a shit ton of people wanting jobs soon. Not eating and being homeless is probably worse for your health than potentially catching the virus

Everyone I have come into contact with, those in the pharmacy, the corner shop, every delivery driver ,I have gone out of my way to say than you for working, most people don't have a choice, the ones that do are diamonds ,i would have gone straight to the nhs front line if i could,i am frustrated I have not been able to

Exactly, now check the main forum and people saying they wouldn’t bother working if they were a PL player on £250k per week on the original non profit version of this thread.

Surprised by that SWP. unfortunately, the said people working bloody hard for us in the Shops probably have no other choice due to their circumstances, I salute them as much as I do for the NHS.

Yeah that’s my point. Maybe fewer people read the main forum than I thought.

For avoidance of doubt, this is the thread I take issue with:

https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/if-you-were-playing-today.345909/

People stating they wouldn’t work/play if they were PL footballers earning more in a week than key workers do in a decade and yet they expect their loved ones to be cared for and food to be on the shelves when they shop despite the far greater risk and lack of testing for those in the poorly paid jobs. Rank hypocrisy if you ask me.

Being you makes one look a humourless grumpy ****, always.

Point stands, we expect shop workers to work but feel sorry for football players having to go back.
I think it's more about necessary and unnecessary risk, as this Amazon worker explains.

Although for some people in lockdown...

If I had the option no I wouldn't go in

But if called back into work I wouldn't have the option so no I wouldn't not go in as I couldn't affordto jeopodize my job, especially as catering is a dead duck occupation atm.

If I was in the position where I'd have to work, say to pay bills, put food on the table, then I would. Seeing as this is probably the case for most supermarket workers, then I would imagine they would have to go in.

As far as footballers are concerned, Troy Deeney is the shining example of what a modern footballer should be like. In his position, young kid with breathing difficulties at home, then I'd do the same. But then he can afford to tell them to stick it.

Football is only a sport. In the grand scheme of things it matters not a jot if it doesn't start up again until September. Not one jot.

Comparing the two though is a bit harsh. One work to live, the other kick a bag of wind about for thousands a week. All the bravado of the Premier League bosses, Oh...it will help the country, football being played will give everyone a boost...it's pure bullshit. Money. that's all it's about. The clubs are bricking it that they might have to give the TV companies some cash back.

Fuck them.

As long as the footballers are happy to forgo their wages and live off furlough wages topping out at £2,500 per month then I’d agree.

Between the devil and the deep blue sea and be damned if you do and damned if you don't. If it was down to me then I would begrudgingly turn out for the main man with ma buds to ear but just for One More Time!

They should all be furloughed as a matter of course. From the off. They are employees after all and as such should be worried about their own jobs/ club they play for.

The trouble is, most footballers, and their clubs, live in some sort of fantasy bubble. We have a full back who has a house party with 2 prossies whilst he has a young kid at home. And then he got a bit upset at getting abuse for his actions. Fuckwit. An utter fuckwit. And yet, 6 months down the line it will all be forgotten when he tucks in a winner at OT.

There are a few gems in the rough, Sergio, the Silva brothers etc etc but most of them are utter bellends.
