the attendance of 24,000 is a bit of a Joke considering its our only chance of winning a trophy after all these years and its the last 16. Seriously, I dont think some City fans want us to win this thing. I thought 38,000 was bad for the quarter final of the FA Cup against West Ham but last night was shocking.

All the excuses have come out in work today. Examples. I didnt finish work until 6.30 (I work in town) made me laugh.
It was £25 - buy early it was £20. They'll spend more than that in the pub on Saturday night.
One lad said "I should have gone really, after seeing all them empy seats" haha this was the best one.

Seriously though I think we have seen the hardcore at these UEFA Cup matches this year. Out of the 24,000 last night I wonder how many of them were there against Walsall, Reading and Colchester at home in the old Division 2. Give or take a few id say probably about 85%

spot on, the atmosphere was actualy alot better without the no showers anyway!

the hardcore 24-5k we have is one of the best in the country, in hindsight the song last night was bound to cut abit close to the bone to those watching it on the tv
exactly you only act upon your own concience.you do not have to answer to a website.if you didn`t go last night and you also posted on this thread trying to exempt yourself from the ignomony of being an armchair (who probable watched united the night before)your a big fat non city supporting twat
Who are you calling an armchair?....You fucking beanbag.
calling me a beanbag? poofee!

I still don't get why it's anyone elses business if someone couldn't be arsed to go.

If they'd prefer to sit at home or the pub and watch it on the TV then good luck to them.

None of anyone elses business.

further to my post above I honestly dont think we have got that many of hardcore fans as we'd like and we like to think we have. 25-30,000 is what we have and like someone said earlier, us fans are among the best in the country. Only Liverpool and Man Utd, maybe Arsenal would of got the crowds we got when we went down to Div.2. You only have to look at Leeds this season and some of their crowds. But none of this matters - I still find personally last nights crowd was embarrasing for a game that could contribute to getting us in the quarter final of the UEFA Cup..

sack this forum lark then lets all mind our own business "mr 10,000 posts"

well we must be either some of the poorest fans in the country OR the Credit Crunch only affects Manchester. See the crowds at Villa and Tottenham?

Bet you wouldnt have the bollocks to go up to someone who didn't go last night and call them a c*** to the face. Still, easy to be brave on an internet forum I guess.

if i think someboby is a cnut i`ll tell them .This is a bit of a lark on the internet thats all lighten up you cnut

ok lets be honest the reason everyone gets upset about poor attendances is because it makes us look shite compared to rags when i turned up at 7:30 last night i could tell straight away it wasnt going to be a good one. and my I was right. But who gives a fuck well i dont really care it just fucking buggs me because it gives rags more ammo to wind me up

I did think the attendance was pretty poor. Yes the ticket price had increased from the FC Copenhagen game which, in my opinion, was a mistake by City and yes Aalborg weren't the most attractive of opposition to your 'average' fan but it's the UEFA Cup for fucks sake, how often in most fans lifetime have we been in this competition? I was born in 1977 and was too young when we legitimately qualified in my lifetime. So all I've had is 'fair play' qualification to enjoy. We get into these competitions so rarely I do find it hard to comprehend when tens of thousands of people feel they can't be bothered to turn up.

IF we get past Aalborg the Quarter Finals will be on the 9th and 16th April. I'm praying for an away draw first because I'm at a Terrorvision concert on the 9th (I know, piss poor planning on my part) and I'll be absolutely gutted if I have to miss the home leg.

We spend all season fighting to try and qualify for these types of European matches and then, once we're in them, huge numbers of fans don't actually seem all that bothered. It does rankle me I have to admit.
