Iker Casillas

Genuine question, if we could get him instead of Hart, would anyone have him?

I love Joe, but Iker is the best in the world when he's playing regularly. Madness to turn him down if we have a shot.

ilker casillas , has to be probably one of the most overrated keepers ever! he's a good keeper but I wouldn't put him in the world class bracket, he's just a decent goalkeeper who has always had a pretty decent defence in front of him,but when that defence has ever cracked he's always looked abit shaky to me.

I remember watching him at 20 years of age keeping goal for Real Madrid...the lad is class, always has been...always will be

you remember watching him at 20 years of age? I believe he is now 32.quite some time has passed since then. if he played for levante nobody would be saying he is class. he's good but nothing special like people make him out to be.

I do question Hart at the moment as it has been nearly a season since he has started to become mistake prone.

That Dortmund home game was the making of him on the European and World stage, but has also been the creator of his downfall. I just think Hart is at a period of his career where top players can become elite or go back to been average again, it's overcoming the hype surrounded by your success and not letting yourself get complacent.

If Hart does end up having a bad season overall this season though questions should be asked about a replacement in my opinion.

I would love to see Hart and Casillas battling it out for the number one shirt, but I doubt it will happen, I do think Casillas will be subject to a few bids this week.

Casillas is not anywhere near as good as Joe. His size is a real issue for him and always has been on crosses, by playing for Madrid he has been protected for many years, he has been replaced at Madrid for a reason. In the Premier league he would be even more exposed and be a liability for any side

Well if I remember correctly Hart once said Iker is his hero ...so why not sign him and let Hart improve with him one on one ?
Its a win win situation

Interest pretty much confirmed :

If it's true, it'll be probably the biggest kick up the arse Joe could get

Would be a great signing imo. While Joe is a great keepe he isnt the best at crosses or kicking his shot stopping isnt in question but i do think he makes a hell of alot of mistakes.

For me Joe is too safe and needs a better number 2 challenging him both for us and england.

I really think he would find the English game a lot more aggressive than he is used to in Spain (corners and free kicks) - look at de gayers first season

If that's the case then I'd be worried. Why would he need competition in order for him to work as hard as he can? That's not very professional me thinks. Maybe letting Pants start a game or two would be a wake-up call for Joe.
Oh, and if Iker came here, Joe wouldn't have a better nr.2 breathing down his neck... he'd be nr.2.

I just wished we gave Pants a go before making this decision. Wasnt it reported we convinced him to stay by giving him 1st team reps because he wanted to move elsewhere? Richard Wright is still on the books even though he's really just part of the English contingent of players needed for a team. I'm not against this move, just the timing.

Casillas has been great in his career, but you have to question why he's been benched by two managers now. Has he lost something? With Maureen, it was probably heavily political, but what about Ancelotti? He isn't a political manager but rates the other goalkeeper more. Casillas is also much shorter than Hart so could also struggle with corners over here, where it's often a war zone in the box.

Pants is Fucking useless
Are you someone who is a fan of skirts and has a poor grasp of grammar?

Because you mustn't have ever seen Costel Pantilimon play if you think he's useless. He's spot-on, for me.

I'm not sure if the last few Goalkeeping coaches have not helped Joe's form, not making excuses but the Italian guy (I think he was Italian!) and now a Spanish guy (who fair enough was at Madrid) surely has not helped?
When he was at Birmingham under David Watson he was supurb?
