Iker Casillas

absoloutley awful decision if true, replace a talented young english keeper who could be our keeper for the next ten years and replace him with an ageing spanish keeper who has just been dropped.

Do we really think this will happen?? Where is it from I assumed we might try and get willy caballero from Malaga to buck Joe up a bit .. but sell him?/ seriously.. I don't know we seem to have lost one game and panicked like mad.. or is there some politics from last year that aren't going away? god I dunno chumps draw and we have to do this surely ssn would be all over this if true?

ilker casillas , has to be probably one of the most overrated keepers ever! he's a good keeper but I wouldn't put him in the world class bracket, he's just a decent goalkeeper who has always had a pretty decent defence in front of him,but when that defence has ever cracked he's always looked abit shaky to me.

I remember watching him at 20 years of age keeping goal for Real Madrid...the lad is class, always has been...always will be

you remember watching him at 20 years of age? I believe he is now 32.quite some time has passed since then. if he played for levante nobody would be saying he is class. he's good but nothing special like people make him out to be.
true.

If it's true, it'll be probably the biggest kick up the arse Joe could get

This. Having two of the best keepers battle it out in world football could be facinating to watch.

Hart needs a kick up the backside, his idol is Casillas by all accounts so I don't see him complaining too much at all, in fact I think if I was Hart I would relish the opportunity.

Hart needs top competition at this stage of his career now and Casillas would be an immense addition.

Casillas has been great in his career, but you have to question why he's been benched by two managers now. Has he lost something? With Maureen, it was probably heavily political, but what about Ancelotti? He isn't a political manager but rates the other goalkeeper more. Casillas is also much shorter than Hart so could also struggle with corners over here, where it's often a war zone in the box.
Watching he Cardiff game Hart was not good on corners either sooooo

Would be a terrible decision. Replace a young homegrown keeper who's got another 10 years minimum left who's already one of the best around and still time to get better with an ageing Spanish keeper who isn't any better than Hart now and won't improve in the 5 years he has left at most.

Those saying he'd be great competition need to get real, no team in the world has 2 world class goalkeepers, You won't get better than Panty as a number 2 (i actually think he's too good to be a number 2) without somebody becoming unsettled.

I was watching Revista the other day and from what I got out of it was that the reason Casillas has been dropped is a because of a political reason.

Mourinho found it out last year and now it looks like Perez believes he holds to much power in the dressing room, I even think Mourinho singled him out for being the rat last sesason because of his contacts in the media.

And a 'rat' in the dressing room is just what we need. Joe & Pants will do for me.....

That's in Spain, he wont get that power in England.

Casillas is the last remaining Galatico and came through the academy, it's expected at Madrid he will be one of if not the main man in the dressing room.

Don't see why we would bring him in. If Joe needs a kick in the arse give Pantilimon a start in the league to send a message.

I am sorry, but Pantillimon is not good enough.

Too risky.

It's not about the height, it's about your vertical and 5'11" Casillas jumps like a bball player.

You won't get significantly better who's prepared to warm the bench.

We need to if Joe is to improve though.

I fear if we don't get top competition for Hart soon he will carry on being inconsistent and if at the end of the season his performances are still dodgy I think Manuel will look to replace him, if any outfield player had a two year spell of being average or inconsistent at this level they would be replaced.

Hasnt Joe won the PL golden glove award for the last 2 seasons?
We need to get behind Joe, sure he has made a couple of errors and some aspects of his distribution can improve, but he is a top class keeper who IMO needs our backing.

Mancini got our defence spot on in the league during his time and a great influence on Joe getting those golden gloves comes down to the defence.

I agree we need to back him, but it does not take away the fact he needs strong competiton now.

Joe got those golden gloves because of our playing style.

Much like Valdes's weaknesses are masked by Barcelona's possession, it is the same with Joe.

Despite having to deal with the ball less than any other premier league keeper—not to mention receiving unparalleled defensive protection—Joe Hart had the 2nd highest amount of unforced errors. Shocking.

A big red flag in my book. He needs to put his head down, concentrate on his football. He can learn a thing from his big party mate Shrek...keep enjoying those clubs and distractions and you will lose your priorities and rapidly decline as a footballer.
