bump. Anyone?
Deep lying playmaker. His starting position this year has been higher than at Dortmund though, I'd like to see us stagger the three in midfield like Guardiola did at Barca to allow the Xavi/Gundogan player to have a bigger view of the pitch.

Not at all sure actually.

Most puzzling for me is why Fernando was given the start over young Garcia.

The only reason I can come up with is that Pep is reluctant to start youth preferring to bring them on slowly - or maybe Garcia has committed some indescreation that we're unaware of.
Too big a game for Garcia so soon after his debut and at a hostile away ground. Can't see him playing in matches like that unless we have no other options or he gets another 20/30 games under his belt. This is exactly what we've done with Nacho in a more forgiving position and it's worked perfectly so far.

After the internationals, I'd like to see us go with Dinho-Gundo double pivot with KDB pulling the strings as a sole 10 and not a free 8. Then bring Silva late in the games for impact. And switch between KDB and Dave for cup games etc. to keep them both fresh.
Came on for the 2nd half against Northern Ireland tonight, replacing Ozil so played as a 10. Some nice touches and a lot of the Germans attacking play went through him. Definitely struggling towards the end of the game. Hope he's not injured...

no worries about gundogan at all! still getting back to 100% and we have a world class player on our hands! just a minority of blue supporters who expect the players not to have the odd bad game!

Or expecting a player coming back from a long injury lay-off to hit the ground running.

Hoping that the extra games for Germany will do him some good. We really need him to step up in this crucial period.

Had an interview after the match in which he told that the week with the team was great for him. The German team is a "wellness oasis" and the guys seem to all understand each other very well. Said it was very unusual for him to play against such a parked bus again - like it was in the second half - including the position as he came in for Mesut Özil. He flew to London with Özil already last night and will stay there the day (both have a free day) - and will come back to Manchester by train tomorrow morning.

I do not know if he will be with the German team in the next international break. Germany is playing first San Marino and then a test match against Italy. I hope some of the Bayern players will get rested and that he will try out the reservists or players that Löw wants to take to the Confed Cup next summer (he will not take the full squad with him).

Test match? Not sure Pep will be happy about that. At least 5 days away and the ball is very hard.
