An absolute snip at £21m. As others have said, the timing of his runs into the box is very similar to Lampard but he's got much more to his game than just that. Not surprised that Guardiola was so eager to make him his first signing.

Bayern and Barca were on it last season but it failed - at that time it was too risky after the injury and his uncle as agent somehow undermined it with being too greedy. Pep did everything right in making the move very early this season as soon or already with his signing with City. Like this nobody had the chance to jump into the dealings.

(Bayern and Barca at that time were in another position as they already had a good equipped midfield - so the upper hand was with the clubs. As Gündogan did not have other interesting offers or offers he wanted to follow he extended a year with Dortmund. Pep's change to City was a big argument for Gündogan)

Of course Bayern were on it, he was a Dortmund player.

Bayern goes for every interesting player that is available. Like all of the top clubs. And that they first look in their own country and are only interested in the players that can help them is understandable, too. But the Firminos, Ozakis, deBruynes, Özils, Mustafis, Gündogans, Mhkytarians etc. just show that they do not go for everybody or that they cannot get everybody.

That Barca and Bayern with their midfields wanted him just show his quality. That is why I mentioned it. That they did not go to the end was due to his injuries and the wage demands of last season. This season probably would be different as he was mainly injury free the recent season. But - Pep and City have done their business with the player very early.

Just watched him being interviewed on Sky Sports. Speaks very well and seems a really nice humble fella.

Mickey Terry Ian cant get a game for the team in 8th in the PL, why do you think he would improve Bayern?

And, Johnny on the spot with the necessary composure to actually put the ball in the net. Which is an attribute sadly lacking in many skilful players.

Although he did miss a couple of similar shots recently - and his history doesn't really suggest he'll score often - He has played 10 games and this is already his best goal-scoring season ever (joint 1st) with 5.

I'm optimistic but I'm going to wait and see if he's going to be a regular goalscorer from midfield. It may very well be that he just didn't get those opportunities under Klopp/Tuchel, and Guardiola has moved him further forward that's for sure.

If he can give us 10-15 goals a season from midfield though, our attack is nearly perfect.
