Considered the notion to not bring him in for big games then?.

And why the hell would Pep do that when he's excelled in big games like Barca, Napoli away, the cup final, Spurs, Arsenal away, Chelsea...?

The ratio of success to failure in big games with Gundogan is about 3:1.

I hope you meant Barca at home......

If you want him in your big game starting line ups then fill your boots by all means.

When he plays we always have more possession and control.
What, more than when he doesn’t play? Didn’t look like it when we were under the cosh in the first half last week. That was as bad a performance as I have seen in a while. He is a wonderfully gifted player, I just don’t think he is physically giving us 100% just now and Liverpool first half and United second half were advantaged because of it. Wouldn’t be a problem but these two games were arguably our most important of the season.

So you're basing his entire city career on one half last week at Anfield? FFS.

Barca, Napoli, Spurs. All teams who are high intensity, high pressing and Gundogan has been one of the best players on the park and a primary reason for us controlling the game against them and winning.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Arsenal in the cup, 3 games where we dominated start to finish with him involved, and had some of the highest possession statistics ever recorded in football.

But lets ignore all of that because he was one of about 10 under performing players at Anfield, and one of 11 who let a lead slip on Saturday.

Have a memory that lasts longer than 5 days if you're going to talk about an individual's level of performance.

No need to be nippy mate. It’s valid to talk about a specific performance and I saw stuff in the first half vs Liverpool that really concerned me about his mental attitude. I saw the same in specific instances on Saturday. He likes to attack. He is less good when defending, unlike Dave an£ KDB whose defensive work has massively improved under a Pep. My memory is fine and as a blue of more than 50 years that gives me some right to express an opinion. Hope the boy proves me wrong. If you don’t agree, that’s fine too.

Quality player when you let him play to his strengths but has struggled at times when asked to play different usually more reserved roles.. who'd of thought it eyy

This is a really disingenuous statistic, to the point where anyone seriously suggesting that playing Gundogan we're more likely to lose has to be considered an idiot.

He's started 24 games and lost 6.

Those 6 are Liverpool at Anfield x2, Manchester United, Wigan, and 2 games Pep pretty much threw against Shakhtar and Basel.

So rule out the 2 games Pep made 10 changes for and didn't take seriously, and you've got 3 losses in 21 starts.

Those 21 starts include an incredible performance vs. Napoli away from home, probably MOTM against Spurs, and a very good game with 2 goals which sealed the Basel game and let us rest 90% of the team for the cup final, which he also played in.

He was also a very good Fernandinho replacement when we beat Chelsea and Arsenal back to back without conceding a goal.

Fact is, Pep brings him in for big games, and surprise surprise, we've lost a couple.

Big game tomorrow. Let's see if Pep brings him in.

I’m not his biggest fan but he played some delightful through balls tonight and took his penalty well.

To become an indespensible player in our side, I believe he needs to be a bit less ‘arsenal’ though.
