On the contrary, has nothing to do with my prior thoughts on the matter. We won 3-0. We were comfortable. His touches especially after the first 15 minutes were very good.

So to compare that to a Dihno stinker (of which there have been some especially under Pelle) speaks more to your agenda than mine.

For fuck sake our defense barely had any trouble. No one is claiming he was the dog's bullock, but to argue he was terrible is assinine!

As long as Pep’s our manager I’m sure Gundogan isn’t going nowhere in the near future.
Same goes for Bernardo.

This about sums it up for me as well. We like to make bold proclamations at times on here for the fun of it and one of mine was that he isn’t good enough to play the DM role for us at all (despite being signed specifically to play DM according to Sam Lee today).

I think he made a small step at changing my mind but I still don’t trust him. I’ll be keeping an open mind for sure.

I’ve yet to watch it back but I don’t see him diving in and breaking up anything and on a few occasions they put themselves into decent scoring positions that fern would have stopped. On the whole though I thought his touch + passing + calmness on the ball made up for it. Color me optimistic. Still think that that ‘nastiness’ fern adds + aerial ability has more value but I want to see more.

Neville was on some "he really sucked" tirade earlier. So I had to go rewatch to confirm my wasn't confused.

Funnily, I think his positioning is one of the two things that he lacks for that position, especially when compared to Fernandinho. The other is getting the ball out of his feet and moving it on without losing it.

I have been impressed by Gundogan, make no mistake, but he is a pale shadow of Fernandinho in the pivoting DM position. The thing that Ferna is world class at is receiving the ball and moving it (and them himself) around the middle of the park. The other is breaking down the opposition’s attacks.

Ilkay is clearly a better forward-looking player that Ferna, but as Pep stated earlier this season, Gundogan is being compared to one of the absolute best players IN THE WORLD in that position!!!
