I've criticised him when I've felt it's warranted, I've acknowledged he had a poor game when I believe he's had a poor game and I will do in future. I will also defend him against what I see as ott and unnecessary castigation, like happens repeatedly on here from a select few.

Two months later and I feel exactly the same way.I like Gundogan.
He's not at the level of either of the Silvas or De Bruyne but he's a reliable option. Another one of our rotation players, like Danilo and (now) Kompany and Otamendi and Zinchenko, who just slot in when needed, contribute as much as they can, and bow out again for their superior counterpart.
I seem to like and trust every player in this team, which is the first time I think I've ever said that about any side, let alone a City one.
I think it's a good word to describe what is currently being posted, at a time when everyone is praising the player.
