Unusual for Pep to mention Gundog directly in this way.

There's usually something behind it. I hope he signs but it doesn't sound like he wants to stay for some reason.

Here is the math for Gundogan if he stays. He becomes the defacto takeover DM as Dihno moves to the CB position and a player is brought in specifically for the DM role. The AM already has Berny and Kev as starters with Dave and Phil backing them up. Sure he can get some game time there, but everything is up in the air.

I think Gundogan is looking to see what the coming and going looks like in the summer before he decides.

That would be logical but Pep saying what he did puts a lot of doubt in my mind or why comment on it? He normally doesn't get involved in contracts and says he doesn't know. To say Gundo isn't 100% staying or he would have signed by now is starting to sound like the Diaz situation again.
