Ilkay Gundogan - 2018/19 performances

Dare I say, he looked a lot more switched on defensively today, that has been my main criticism of him but he has shown he can do it. I thought he saved goal in the first half, by spotting the danger in the box, then cutting out the final ball and hooked it too safety.

He is and always has been a top player - when fit - which is why Pep wanted him. I am not that stressed about him wishing to move on as long as we have a plan that is far better than last summers Mahrez and Jorginho fiasco. To be fair we need a 22/23 year old midfielder to come in given that we have another year of both Ferna and Merlin at ages 34/5. Finally if Ilkay is part of a team that wins at least three, possibly four titles this year he will always be thought of as a true blue by me anyway. Very underrated and there will be no shortage of suitors for him.

Maybe he needed more playing tume all along.

Perhaps Pep was right about choosing him all along.

Thought Gundogan was poor today , his shooting was wayward and he gave away a free kick with a stupid challenge for Palace's goal , causing unnecessary pressure , i praise the guy when he plays well and he gets criticism when he is poor , that's how it should be , i dont have any pre-concieved ideas about his ability to play football , take it game by game.
