You have to watch more than once to see it.
It's hard to explain how well he did against Wolves to folks who don't go back and watch again.
He didn't say he was a mixture of Bell & Pirlo, with Gareth Barry, Platini & Roy Kean thrown in, he said: I thought his pass selection was correct most of the time. I
also thought his positioning was deliberate and sensible. I've said before that maybe he could take more risks but there's a place for a player who keeps things ticking over.
Some people, such as myself, can actually watch that the first time, see it perfectly, appreciate it & still think it's 'ok' but nothing special, without having to study it or agree with you.
If Pep wants a neat & tidy player, who tries to be sensible in his positioning (occasionally gets it wrong) doesn't create too much, but occasionally plays a killer pass, lacks a bit of pace & isn't great defensively, not great in the air, not great at finishing, but scores an occasional beauty, nicks a few balls, sometimes in good attacking positions, doesn't lose the ball too often but does lose it just the same as anyone else in our team (or Jorginho), is intelligent but not genius, then he has his ideal player.
He does indeed 'tick over' & position.
Provided he doesn't have a bad day when his positioning isn't great or his lack of mobility is an issue under pressing, when the centre midfield needs help in that respect, or he causes attacks to break down with slow or badly hit simple passses, of course.
Then, as he doesn't do anything else, he wouldn't be 'ideal' at all.
