Yeah, scoring a load of goals rather than blocking Fulham's attacks, would have really fucked us up for Wed, especially with Foden playing, we must protect him for Lyon of course & bring on two older players.

What a load of absolute fucking bollocks.
Still not answered the question?

I don't want to list them all, but there are a lot of other things he could have done including 3 at the back etc, Stonrs def mid.

Two fresh 'creative' players, v a side 3-0 down, is not a plan to see the game out, it's a manager expecting new, exciting ideas against a team who have been chasing the ball.

You would have got exactly that, with Foden & KDB for example. Excitement & most likely, more goals.

That is the level Gundogan & Mahrez are playing at, they are supposed to be brilliant & exciting. They are attack minded City players.

I expect Mahrez to improve 100%
But if Mahrez is the same in two years, as he is now, he will be Gundogan.

Sorry but this is a load of bollocks. You have this weird infatuation with Foden yet you're under-appreciative of a World Cup winner who's been good enough for both a Pep and Klopp side which has won their league.

Gundogan was streets ahead of Foden at a respective age, and if Foden becomes half as good a player as Gundogan then we've got ourselves a gem.

Did you learn anything yesterday?

You didn't see the sitters we missed in the last quarter of the game then?

Ill throw another one in. If Gundogan was playing at the base of England's midfield instead of henderson when 1 nil up against Croatia, with 20 mins to go. England may have got to the final. What certain people don't understand is that the platform of are success is possession. There ain't many in the prem like Gundogan who enable us to retain it wearing down teams to build attacks or manage out games.

Exactly. I've said this before but if Gundogan is deemed as a problem then frankly there are 99.9% of teams out there who would love to have that as an issue.

Spot on. I was watching Liverpool v Leicester a couple of weeks back, Liverpool 2-1 up but in that precarious position they found themselves in so many times last season that ultimately saw them concede because they didn't control tge gane, Klopp then replaces Henderson with Keita and all of a sudden Liverpool can hold possession instead of just booting it forward and saw out the game.

Which our lack of inspiration & tempo, allowed them to do.

We have never intentionally taken our foot off the gas, against lower table teams, at home, when 3 up.

It's something we were famous, for not doing, lsst season (in direct contrast to Mourinho's Utd, for example).

This idea has only come about, on here, to explain Gundogan's perormance.
When pep was saying he was unhappy with the teams last pass finishing etc, I suspect he was referring to the first half and the first 15 mins of the second half. You don't take Delph, aguero and Silva off at different times with 30 mins to go, if your hell bent on pushing for more goals. They could and should have scored more goals but that does not negate the fact that Pep did effectively take the teams foot of the gas with his substitutions. Further Fulham were sitting that deep that for large parts of the last 20 or 30 mins, City were playing tippy tappy 10-15 yards up from the centre circle trying to entice Fulham out. This is why mahrez was coming inside a lot trying to pull their right back who was deep inside, to create space for fern who went right back/ right wing back when walker went over to the left. Fulham not wanting a battering did not bite and would not come out. Therefore Gundogan, and Bernardo managed/ controlled out the game, effectively taking the teams foot of the gas.

This is what were we are up against guys. Some can't see value in a player unless their hitting attack based stats. The irony is that Thiago ain't no Souness in the tackle but he carries out his role in that Bayern team, recycling and retaining possession to allow the team time to pick and choose their points of attack. He aint great defensively, not a prolific goal scorer, but not many would dispute his value to their team. It's strange.

Because if people did understand that, & still thought Gundogan has been an average player for City, it would require thought, rather than a succesion of the continental version of Fat Sam style football clichés.
