Don't like how gets scapegoated sometimes when the team loses, when in fact many players and the coach are also underperforming, indicating systemic issues.
On Gundogan, I know alot of people hate the Gundogan-Rodri pivot, but I think it has its uses, particularly when we go 4231 and face high pressing teams, where we play it out of the back, like how we dismantled Liverpool comically 4-0 (should have been more).
Against Lyon, Peps 343 or 352 depending on what Kevin did, doesn't suit Gundogan as much because Lyon didn't press us and we didn't play it out from the back.
If Pep really wanted to go 3 at the back, I think Mendy LWB, Cancelo RWB, Walker RCB would have been a better setup for our defenders. Then for the midfield pairing Gundogan with Kevin would be better, to let Gundogan regularly drop deeper and help build up with a strong back 3.
Anyways, if teams sit back against us then the duo of Gundogan-Rodri is redundant as we don't need 2 of that type of player against a low block, Bernardo or Foden would then be better.
Basically, Gundogan (and Rodri) play well in particular set ups, and I think Pep hasn't done many favours for our players when he sets them up for failure before kick-off.
