Ilkay Gundogan - 2019/20 Performances

Like any player KDB included he can have poor games. But Gundogan is the go to moan when the team isn't performing in a game. Fans need to take their 'Glory glasses' off and see the quality in his game.

Or maybe certain other players aren't at their best all the time ;-)

Ilkay was bossing midfield 2nd half, he was the metronome and director.

When he plays as an 8 there is 1 problem: he is not there as a 6.
Neither Fern nor Rodri can boss creative mid from the 6 like Ilkay does.

But against stronger sides Fern and Rodri are key as defensive players, where Ilkay may have problems.

In all matches vs deep sitting sides Ilkay is reading the game so well, always head up, initiating our attacks.

Fernandinho is every bit as creative as him and more.

In fact, I'd go as far as saying that Fernandinho is better than Gundog at every facet of the game.

Probably went a bit under the radar on Saturday but he was immense in both boxes never put a foot wrong and Pep trusts him and what a steal he has been £25million!!!

Both Dinho and Rodri are considerably better than him mate, and in that that order.

Gundog has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he can do a quality job against this level of opposition. He struggles against better teams.

There is no evidence supporting this belief. He has been very good at the 6 regardless of opposition.

He reminds me of Gareth Barry in that he never has a bad game but never overly stands out. Consistent 7 out 10 every game. You need the players that do a job as you cannot have a team of pure flair
