Ilkay Gundogan - Done Deal

That's not an issue, that's a good thing.

Agree btw, re plenty to be excited about. And now there is even more.

He won't disturb anything any more than any other player coming in would have. He will slot in seamlessly, which wouldn't be true for other players. Would have been a push going into the season as we were, pretty much everyone acknowledged that, including Pep. Now we can get excited about all that, and having extra cover, and seeing a loved player back with us. I'm leaving it there for a while.
Fair enough I'll wind it in.

But we don’t know how injuries and suspensions are going to affect the squad throughout the season.

Bringing Ilkay back on a free makes perfect sense for all parties.
The question is Ilkay coming back as cover or is he expecting to play a bigger part.Although he is still a highly intellegent player we have changed our dynamic since he left. He still wants to play regularly as he can I am not sure he can really sustain that in our setup. As it been mentioned the plus side it is a free.

Again we should be looking forwards when signing players and not backwards. There are examples where clubs shouldn't sign their former stars even after having a good season. Ronaldo being the recent one.

I see this is the cantankerous way you've decided to go about this morning, you're comparing apples and oranges, Ronaldo (and pretty much everyone who ever returned to their old club) came back to different managers, playing styles, players, hell even directors/chairmen, Gundogan is literally coming back to the club exactly how he left it he'll slot in immediately and it certainly improves us going into the season.

As for one of your further posts about us not struggling against united, we were shite (understandably) that day, could and should have lost the game.

We were still in good control of the game despite the personnel out there. We had chances. Chelsea we improved even further despite their chances too.
