This "we're a club. that looks forward not backwards" is a right daft cliche.

We do what we think is in our interest amd if that means bringing back a player or coach we will do it.

If Pep wants him amd it see cancelo gone for good then that is all we need to know, Gundo won't let us down, 35 or not
He's 33 though, still a season or two left in him yet.
 
Could see him back as a player/coach, was taking his badges when he left.
I pefer him to be a coach his best years as a player are behind him. We would still need to bridge that gap once he retires along with the likes of De Bruyne, Walker and possibly Ederson. It would be too much change in one transfer window.
 
Will only be short term as a player though. Even if he gets used sparingly he can still perform when called upon and his experience is invaluable. No brainer IMO.
Even for the short term it wouldn't be the wisest of choices. Serie A would be ideal for the legs
